Summary
Warning: The following contains spoilers forThe Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic, Episode 10, “Madness?! The Black Knight Appears!,” now streaming onCrunchyroll.
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic’s overarching plot has finally come to fruition, with the show’s latest episode showcasingthe Demon Lord’s invasion, a war that had been hinted at since the beginning of the show. The current highlight of the war is the Black Knight, a demonic entity that seems to be immune to all sorts of direct offenses.

Since the war is in its initial stages, the Rescue Squad is yet to shine on the battlefield. Fans of the show will finally get to see some action, but viewers worry that the war may be rushed with only three episodes left, leaving the current season’s conclusion a convoluted mess.
Usato’s Vision Has Already Come to Pass
The events of the latest episode ofThe Wrong Way to Use Healing Magicseem to be moving too fast, hintingtowards a rushed ending. The Black Knight is the demon army’s trump card, as this mysterious Knight was witnessed by Usato in his daunting vision. It was already implied that defeating this foe would prove to be a task too difficult for the heroes, as the vision clearly presented Suzune and Kazuki’s lifeless bodies beneath the Black Knight.
However, it was rather surprising to see the premonition coming true almost immediately after the beginning of the war, proving that the Heroes were indeed no match for this demonic entity. The episode concludes on a cliffhanger, leaving Kazuki and Suzune’s fate unknown. Only Usato can save his friends, though it seems unlikely for now, considering he has his own inner demons to fight. With the war merely in its initial stages and the heroes at the end of their rope,The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magicseems to be nearing its climax already.

The Appearance of the Black Knight
Thesight of the Black Knightin Usato’s vision was petrifying enough, but seeing this monstrosity in action is truly spine-chilling. With the power to deflect any attacks thrown at it, be it magical or physical, the Black Knight seems to have little to no counters. While Suzune immediately identifies the type of magic the Knight possessed, her deduction proved to be useless after all of their strategies failed.
No one has ever injured me… and no ne ever will.

The identity of the Black Knight currently remains unknown, but it’s unlikely that this entity is a demon. The Black Knight could possibly be aresult of the demons' experiments, leading to the creation of an entity that is immune to all magic. The heroes will have to slay the beast soon, otherwise the Black Knight will take up a significant portion of the actual war. Since the Black Knight was the only major demon foreshadowed in the vision, it’s likely that the war will revolve around defeating this beast. However, such a premise would also mean that other events of the war will be undermined, leading to either a rushed conclusion or a cliffhanger ending.
The Show’s Questionable Pacing
Up until a few episodes back,The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic’spacing seemed to have been set up perfectly. However, the two-episode flashback ate up a massive chunk of the show’s limited screen time, leaving little room for the events of the war to develop. Since the show is set to air only13 episodes this season, the anime has only three more episodes to conclude the war.
However, condensing a major chunk ofThe Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic’slight novel into three episodes would surely take a toll on the show’s pacing, meaning a cliffhanger in-between the war is also likely. In either case, fans of the show are likely to be disappointed by this season’s conclusion, as ending on a cliffhanger is just as dissatisfying as a rushed conclusion.

The Likelihood of The Show Ending On a Cliffhanger
With only three episodes left forThe Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic’sseason 1 to conclude, it’s highly likely that the show is heading towards a mid-war cliffhanger. Normally, anime seasons tend to conclude after a major arc is completed, giving viewers a satisfying conclusion. However, it’s not too far from the norm for some shows to end on a cliffhanger. While this is normally done to draw viewers in for the show’s next season, light novel-adapted animetend to have another purpose.
Several light novelsare only given on-screen adaptations to serve as marketing material. Once the anime is concluded midway, viewers are forced to finish the rest of the story by shifting to the original light novel source. WhileThe Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic’spopularity might say otherwise, it’s still a likely outcome considering several of the show’s counterparts have adopted a similar strategy.
