Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2023, but fans are already coming up with ideas for new and old features that they would like to see added to Insomniac Games' upcoming title. One fan recently dug up an entertaining clip of the web-sling feature from 2007’sSpider-Man 3game and decided thatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2should also contain the ability to launch Spider-Man halfway across the city with his own webs.

Redditor slick-nickp shared the clip ofSpider-Man 3gameplay footage, which is 41 seconds long and begins with Spider-Man on a rooftop. He soon finds a location with what appear to be two smokestacks or chimneys and is greeted by a button prompt. When the player accepts the prompt, Spider-Man attaches webs to each smokestack and leans back, creating a form of web slingshot. After a few seconds, the player hits another button prompt and sends Spider-Man hurtling into the air.

Most of the video’s length is dedicated to watching Spider-Man fly through the air with a similarly rigid posture to flying superheroes like Superman or Green Lantern. Although the player can’t control the descent, they do spend several seconds turning the camera around to watch Spider-Man’s gradual arc toward the ground. The jump appears to cover most of the city and could theoretically be considered a form of unorthodox fast travel. This isn’t the firstmechanic fans ofMarvel’sSpider-Man 2have requested, but it could be one of the most entertaining.

One of the biggest downsides to the mechanic, aside from the inability to steer, is that at its maximum height the web launch feature seems difficult to aim. The video ends with Spider-Man coming down into a shallow lake, but he could easily have landed in a tree or on the side of a building. Of course, Spider-Man doesn’t always seem to be particularly affected by fall damage, so it’s possible that he could simply walk off the effects of a poorly-aimed launch. Whatever the case, the web launch would make for an interestingfree roam feature inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.

As of writing, it appears that other fans are generally in favor of this idea, though several requested a less extreme version of the web launch be used. One user suggested that a similar effect could be achieved with an anti-gravity suit mod, while another suggested that web launch could be a max upgrade move. Regardless, the ability to catapult Spider-Man across the map could have consequencesif Gwen Stacy makes an appearance inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.
