Yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play was a huge treat for fans of Capcom and horror, with an official announcement reveal for aResident Evil 4remake and anin-engine trailer reveal forThe Callisto Protocol. What’s more, Marvel fans were not left in the dark during this State of Play.
In a teaser that many gamers believed to be addressing a PC port ofBloodborne, the Insomniac Games logo appeared on-screen after the presentation’s narration thata beloved PlayStation title is coming to PC. The announcement followed thatMarvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, originally a PS5 exclusive, would be available on PC on August 12. This is exciting news for gamers who may not have been fortunate enough to play it on PlayStation, and can now play it on PC later this summer. In terms of modding potential,Marvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredwill be a modder’s paradise.

Long-Awaited Skins Will Now Be Modded into Marvel’s Spider-Man
Mods forMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredon PCwill grant players the ability to add their own long-awaited suit skins to the game. If there is one thing that has keptMarvel’s Spider-Man’s shelf-life as active as it still is, it is the diverse costume catalog that succeeded its post-launch content and added more personality and choice to players’ preferences.
Many suits have been added officially toMarvel’s Spider-Man, all of which are now available immediately inMarvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, but there are many others fans have wished for that will be modded into the game as soon as it drops on PC. One ofMarvel’s Spider-Man’s most highly requested suit skinshas undoubtedly been the costume fromThe Amazing Spider-Man2.

It is unclear whether this suit is ubiquitously a majority of fans’ favorite, or if it is simply the only modern live-action suit that has yet to be added in an official capacity. Indeed, even the eccentric suit fromThe Amazing Spider-Manhad been added, so it has left a sour note with players that the sequel’s more traditional outfit has never been added in a post-release patch. That concern is now gone, however, as mods will surely rectify this perceived wrong.
Likewise, fans have declared their hopes for a skin cosmetic that features Peter Parker in his ordinary civilian clothes without a mask.Marvel’s Spider-Manextends an olive branch to these fans by offering skins where Peter is in street clothes and a mask, or naked in his underwear and wearing a mask, butthere is no dedicated Peter Parker skin.

This is likely due to the fact that Peter’s mouth would need to be lip-synched to dialogue, which would seemingly take much more work than is warranted. Moreover, fans will likely be modding in the Peter Parker facial model from the PS4 version, considering fans' reactions to the new PS5 model.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Mods Can Finally Introduce a Symbiote Suit
One comics-accurate suit players have also longed for is a black-and-white symbiote suit. This suit, whether it is an actual alien symbiote or a cloth rendition of it, was noticeably omitted fromMarvel’s Spider-Manback when the game launched. This was intentional, as Creative Director Bryan Intihar stated that Insomniac had bigger plans for the symbiote suit. Fans now know that this was in reference to how significant the symbiote will be toMarvel’s Spider-Man 2and its own costume catalog.
Later this summer, however, players will be able to mod it intoMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredthemselves, as well as any other comics-accurate costumes that they have desired to see. Further, mods will not only be restricted to suit cosmetics, though that is likely where a chief number of mods will be concentrated. Mods may render characters intopolygonal models comparable to the classic PS1Spider-Man, and super-villains could be given entirely new looks as well.
This could extend to Aunt May, Norman Osborn, or virtually any character that fans wish to have look different. Spider-Man is a character with decades of inspirational source material for modders to be influenced by, whether it is from comic books, live-action, animation, or other video games. Such inspirations may include a Spider-Cop mod, a Daredevil mod, a wrestler suit mod from Raimi’sSpider-Man, Miles Morales suit mods, a Spider-Gwen mod—and the list continues onward.
The possibilities are infinite, for better or for worse, and fans are also sure to see some NSFW or absurd mods created forMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredonce it launches on PC. This may include other zany outfits that made their debut in the comics, or it may include textured reworks toMarvel’s Spider-Man’s Undies suit. With it on PC, Insomniac and Nixxes Software are truly handing over the keys of control to players, which will inevitably produce some hilarious results.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PC is Right Around the Corner
Mods could also include other “playable” characters such as Venom, reskinned on top of Spider-Man’s character model, similar to how Venom has been rumored to be a third playable character inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, that’s not all that fans have to be excited about. IfMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredon PC was not enough of a gift, Insomniac and Nixxes' collaboration has also confirmed thatMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moraleswill be launching on PC as well, but not until sometime this fall.
This likely means that players will only have to wait a few months beforeMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles MoralesjoinsMarvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, where mods will already be saturated and overflowing. The modding potential for each is only as limited as fans’ imaginations and creativity with modding tools, and that will likely be the most interesting thing to see aboutMarvel’s Spider-Manthis August besides the extent to which performance and fidelity can be pushed.
That said,Marvel’s Spider-ManandMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moralesalready exceed expectations on PS5 withVRR support and the capability of 120Hz, so it neither will look inferior to the other in any way, shape, or form. It is incredible nonetheless to see how Insomniac has continued to developMarvel’s Spider-ManandMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, whether that is offering advanced performance support or ports to PC.
Insomniac is well underway developingMarvel’s Spider-Man 2andMarvel’s Wolverine, so its dedicated attention to these games years after they have been released is a treat for fans. Now, fans will soon have at their disposal the ability to mod in suits and other textures they would like.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredis out now on PS5 and is coming to PC on June 03, 2025.
