Summary

OneMinecraftplayer managed to build a desert mega-base in the game’s Survival Mode. It’s another in along line of impressiveMinecraftcreations, standing as a testament to human determination and creativity, and also the game’s limitless construction possibilities.

Minecraftis still going strong as one of the most successful 3D sandbox titles after turning 12 this year, and it’s all because players can do anything they want in the game. The most noteworthy creations from it are players' recreations of massive scenes and settings, ranging from real-world wonders to impressive set-pieces from fictional universes such asLord of the RingsandHarry Potter.

Redditor Strange_Welder_7133 posted photos of their colossal desert base, which they created in the game’s Survival Mode. It’s not just one structure, but an actual sprawling city. At thecenter of theirMinecraftworld is a massive pyramid, which was the first thing they started building in the world, then moving outward creating other structures like a castle, what appears to be a church, and a garden, to name a few. The settlement is then rounded out by small houses to further add character.

They said that it took them 2,800 in-game days and around three years on and off in real life to complete it, working in short three to four hour bursts. The construction extended to over three years because Strange_Welder_7133 admitted to taking long breaks in between their sessions, and to maintain some sanity, they also said that most of the buildings don’t have an interior. Otherwise, constantly working nonstop on something so grand would have burned them and anybody out.

Both that length of time and the fact that it wasdone in the punishingMinecraftSurvival Mode(when they didn’t have to) make this a staggering feat. Survival Mode sees the player maintaining their health and gathering construction resources and supplies, as opposed to Creative Mode where all of those are limitless and on hand. That means Strange_Welder_7133 would also have had to monitor their character’s well-being while running around and searching for the things they needed to keep building, which likely made the process even longer.

Meanwhile,Minecraftshows no signs of stopping anytime soon. The game recently gotnewJurassic Worldtie-in DLC, the latest in official crossover content featuring popular movie, TV, and other game franchises released this year, with more likely on the way. Developer Mojang Studios also continues to address issues and introduce quality-of-life improvements to the game, ensuring its longevity for more generations to come.
