There has been high demand from DC fans for anotherBatmangame sinceArkham Knightin 2015. While fans recently found out that Rocksteady, the developer of theBatman: Arkhamtrilogy,has moved on fromBatmanto make aSuicide Squadgame, it seems there will also be anotherBatmangame in the near future.
In 2013, WB Montreal releasedArkham Origins, a spin-off of theBatman: Arkhamtrilogy from Rocksteady. WB Montreal was then trusted to develop the four story DLC packs forArkham Knightcentering around Batgirl, the Red Hood, Harley Quinn and Scaecrow. As early as December of 2018,WB Montreal began teasing anotherBatmangame, seemingly centered on the Court of Owls. A relatively new addition to Batman’s villain gallery, The Court of Owls was introduced in 2011 as part of the New 52 reboot of the DC Universe and are a secret society consisting of Gotham’s rich and powerful that pull the strings behind the scenes.

The teases have continued into 2020, with the developer cryptically tweeting images that appear to be related to the Court of Owls, but several years of teasing has led to fans wondering when this game will actually be unveiled, and if WB Montreal has been running into problems during development.
There now appears to be a somewhat concrete answer. Trusted industry insider Jason Schreier, formerly of Kotaku and now covering video games for Bloomberg, said on Twitter yesterday that WB Montreal’sBatman game“should” be at DC’s upcoming Fandome online event.
Schreier previously revealed that WB Montreal was working on a differentSuicide Squadgame while it was working on theArkham Knight DLC,until theSuicide Squadproject was canceled in late 2016, at which point Rocksteady began working on its version. In a tweet, Schreier also acknowledges that the studio was originally working on a differentBatmangame centered around Damian Wayne, Batman’s son, before the project was rebooted by either the studio or DC. It is unclear if the Damian Wayne game and theSuicide Squadgame from WB Montreal were the same project.
Schreier is an incredibly reliable source, having most recently broken the news aboutthe tragically toxic community among the higher-ups at Ubisoft, so it is more than likely true that the nextBatmanvideo game will be unveiled at the DC Fandome event.Batmanfans should have a lot to look forward to when the event begins on August 22.
Suicide Squadis confirmed to be in development by Rocksteady Games.
