WithRainbow Six Extractionabout two months away from release, it appears as though information on the cooperative multiplayer title is starting to ramp up. Just recently, Ubisoft revealed some updates onRainbow Six Extraction,including a new lower price tag, an official release date, and a buddy pass where friends can play for free for up to fourteen days.
The information comes afterRainbow Six Extractionwas delayedfrom September 2021 to 2022 due to some of the mixed receptionRainbow Sixspin-off received during the Ubisoft Forward event. Now, a new cinematic trailer forRainbow Six Extractionhas been revealed, this time focusing on the M.I.A feature that was announced during the Ubisoft Forward event.

The two-and-a-half-minuteRainbow Six Extractiontrailer follows three operators as they traverse an abandoned facility where an ally had fallen. The three operators find their way to the fallen ally while using gameplay mechanics that should be familiar to those that have playedRainbow Six Siegeincluding breaking walls down, fortifying them. The trailer also introduced an invisibility mechanic where the player is momentarily hidden from alien combatants, briefly seen at the 1:50 minute mark. After locating with fallen ally, the three operators then have to rescue them by taking the ally to an extraction location where a helicopter awaits them.
The M.I.A gameplay feature is an interesting one that separatesRainbow Six Extractionfrom other cooperative multiplayer titles such asBack 4 BloodandAliens: Fireteam Elite.Essentially, if an operator falls during a mission, they will become M.I.A, meaning players won’t be able to use that specific operator in future missions until they’re rescued.
Rainbow Six Extraction’sM.I.A featureadds more weight to each mission, where players essentially risk losing progress or upgrades. Although the feature is interesting, there are still some questions around how exactly it functions. For example, it’s unclear if players go “down” where they can be revived similar to other cooperative multiplayer titles.
These questions are a bit difficult to answer as the M.I.A trailer was purely cinematic, not showing off any new gameplay. Although no gameplay was shown, it’s more than likely that a new gameplay trailer of some kind will be made available soon as new information onRainbow Six Extractionhas been starting to be posted. A likely spot for the trailer could even be next month duringThe Game Awards showm where 40-50 games will be featuredduring the event.
