To sayStrayhas been a viral game would be an understatement, as the simple appeal of playing as a cat has caught many eyes, and the fact that it is leading the first officialPS Plus Extradrop is a nice touch. In it, players take on the role of a stray cat in a world of robots and machines, searching for its family. Players are assisted by a drone companion and must move obstacles, traverse platforms, and explore via open segments of gameplay. Of course, to top it off, players can paw, scratch, knock things over, and otherwise be a little lord of the world around them.

PS Plus Cat Game Stray Has Great Reviews
There’s always something to be said about quality whenever a service like PS Plus Extra adds as many games as it is (17 total) with this drop, butreviews forStrayare quite promising. Indeed, anyone looking forward to the cat game, or even if not, should be met with a promising game. Out of 69 critic reviews on Metacritic,Stray’s PS5 version holds an average of 84. It’s further worth noting that 59 of those are positive, 10 are mixed, and none are negative.
It seems many have praisedStray’s environments, overall quality of presentation, stealth, narrative, puzzles, graphics, characters, and more. It seems the term “masterclass” is floated quite often, and it says something when many are calling it a Game of the Year contender—not bad for a cat game releasing the same year asElden RingandGod of War Ragnarok.
In terms of the mixed reviews, it seems the loftiest complaint against it is some may find it boring (especially if the player is not a cat person) and some think it has no real sense of direction. The limited exploration and mechanics, as well as questionable platforming, are also called into question, but ultimately, it says something that its lowest review is a 60.
User scores aren’t out yet, so it remains to be seen how the general public responds to this, butStrayhas 2 reviews as low as 60, 6 at 70, 18 at 90-95, and 6 100s. That’s a good spread for a cat game.
