Summary

The recent TWID post forDestiny 2’s Season of the Wish and all the changes coming with it sparked a handful of conversations about features that should or shouldn’t be changed, how deep and impactful some nerfs should be, and more.Destiny 2’s Titans suffered multiple nerfsin a single patch, and with several of them stacking, it could be hard for some builds to remain viable in all content, if at all. On the other hand, Season of the Wish’s seasonal mods entail a great selection of perks to spice up the endgame, and one of them should become a permanent addition with The Final Shape.

Destiny 2’s seasonal mods are often good ways to shake up the meta because they can have unique effects in terms of gameplay, with notable examples in the past being mods like Energy Accelerant or Spoils of Conquest, which were capable of redefining some endgame activities. The now-returning Solo Operative mod also bears a case for becoming a staple addition to the game given how common it is for players to run solo activities rather than playing in a full-fledged Fireteam. However, Season of the Wish adds a never-before-seen mod that sounds exactly like what some weapons might need at all times.

Destiny 2’s Dragon’s Bite Mod in Season of the Wish Can be a Game-Changer

Destiny 2’s The Final Shape may be delayedto June 2024 following the layoffs at Bungie, something that was allegedly decided internally a while ago, but it has yet to be officially communicated to players. The reason seems to be that initial reactions to The Final Shape were not in line with Bungie’s intention to deliver an unforgettable experience to close out the Light and Darkness saga. If the expansion is indeed delayed, Season of the Wish will last much longer than anticipated, and turning one of its seasonal mods into a new feature or weapon perk could be a great approach.

Why Season of the Wish’s Dragon’s Bite Mod Would be a Good Addition to Destiny 2

Season of the Wish inDestiny 2is about to introduce a mod called Dragon’s Bite, which makes breaking a combatant’s shield with a Strand or Stasis weapon Suspend or Freeze that enemy, with the caveat being that it’s not guaranteed to happen, and instead, it’s a random effect. The mod’s chance to occur is increased by wearing Season of the Wish armor, which is likely to make the mod one that players will pass upon in many cases, as being forced to find and then Masterwork new armor pieces is not ideal. Still, the concept is an interesting one, and it could find its way into the game permanently.

Players could have the implicit ability to break Light shields (Arc, Solar, and Void) to proc their associated effects (Jolt, Scorch/Ignite, Suppress/Weaken) and the ability to break Darkness shields (Stasis, Strand) to proc either Freeze or Suspend. Otherwise, this could be a weapon perk that activates at all times or just for shields corresponding to the weapon’s element, but this could make it a subpar pick.

Dragon’s Bite Should be a Permanent Modifier in Destiny 2 or a New Hard Light Perk

Essentially, sinceDestiny 2’s Match Game modifier was removedfrom endgame activities, having this mod permanently could make good use of the shield-breaking mechanics. Even better, it could be given to one specific Exotic - Hard Light.

Destiny 2’s Hard Lightis an auto rifle with the ability to swap between any Light element, and while valuable, this is not enough to make the gun truly stand out anymore, especially with Match Game gone. Instead, giving the new Season of the Wish Dragon’s Bite mod to Hard Light could be an interesting choice for buildcrafting, where the gun can now switch to any element in the game (besides Kinetic) and gain side effects based on it when breaking any shield. Both are great options, and this seasonal mod feels like a good way for Bungie to experiment with the concept.
