Blizzard has released the long-awaited Season 2 update for hero shooterOverwatch 2, which changes up the map pools by removing certain maps, adding new ones to the mix, and bringing back maps that players haven’t seen sinceOverwatch 1. WithOverwatch 2, Blizzard has decided to tweak map pools so certain maps aren’t seen in Competitive Play and Quick Play playlists in certain seasons, though the maps will always be available in custom matches.

TheOverwatch 2Season 2 updateis a significant one for the hero shooter. Not only does it add new Tank hero Ramattra to the roster of playable characters, but it also adds the new Shambali Monastery map. Shambali Monastery is a new Escort map set at night where players visit the temple that Ramattra and Zenyatta lived before the former became the leader of the Null Sector terrorist group.

WhileOverwatch 2players will notice theShambali Monasteryin map rotations, they will also see that a couple of maps that were mainstays in Season 1 are no longer in playlists. For Season 2,Overwatch 2players shouldn’t expect to run into the Hollywood or Watchpoint Gibraltar maps. They will likely return in a future season, but Blizzard has yet to reveal those specific plans at the time of this writing.

Hollywood and Watchpoint Gibraltar are being replaced byBlizzard World, which will be showcased in a new Overcast variant, as well as the returning Rialto map. In the meantime,Overwatch 2players will also notice fresh variants for the Nepal and Oasis Control maps, which will now be playable in the Evening and Morning. While not the same as brand-new maps, these tweaks should still help existingOverwatch 2maps feel fresh compared to Season 1.

In the meantime, some fans will undoubtedly notice thatNumbani is still missing fromOverwatch 2. It’s unclear when Blizzard plans on bringing Numbani back into the fold, but it seems that fans are going to have to wait for Season 3 at the earliest.

WithOverwatch 2Season 2 just barely underway, it will likely be some time before Blizzard reveals its Season 3 plans for the game. For now,Overwatch 2players can check out everything Season 2 has to offer, fromRamattrato Shambali Monastery to the new lineup of playlist maps.

Overwatch 2is available now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
