In a series of tweets, Blizzard revealed theOne Punch Manskins coming toOverwatch 2and the exclusive rewards available throughout this collaboration.Overwatch 2players can complete various challenges to unlock a free Legendary skin for Soldier: 76 turning him into the Mumen Rider fromOne Punch Man. Three other Legendary cosmetic elements join the in-game shop, with Doomfist as the One Punch Man himself, Genji as Genos, and Kiriko as Terrible Tornado. TheseOverwatch 2skins based onOne Punch Mancharacters are available from March 7 through the end of this collaboration on April 6.
TheOverwatch 2 x One Punch Mancollaborationbrings a variety of new challenges to Blizzard’s FPS, allowing players to unlock six different free rewards by playing either Unranked, Competitive, or Arcade games. While the first rewards are quite discrete, such as a themed Weapon Charm, completing the entire challenge unlocks Soldier: 76’s Legendary Mumen Rider skin with a specific Victory Pose and Highlight Intro.
Here are all the free rewardsOverwatch 2players can unlock throughout the collaboration withOne Punch Man:
AsOverwatch 2does not feature loot boxesfor players to randomly receive new in-game rewards, players will need to unlock theOne Punch Mancosmetic elements either by completing challenges or purchasing them from the in-game shop. Players had mixed feelings about Soldier: 76’s Mumen Rider appearance being the only free Legendary skin based onOne Punch Man, as they deemed it the worst one of the four unveiled by Blizzard. Some players found the skins disappointing compared to the ones featured inFortnite, while others wished for a new game mode to highlight this collaboration betweenOverwatch 2andOne Punch Man.
Unlike crossovers in games likeFortnitewhere heroes from another franchise join this in-game universe,Overwatch 2art director Dion Rogers stated that the heroes from Blizzard’s FPS are aware of the existence of theOne Punch Manseries and decide to dress up as the main characters from this anime. This creates somefunny lore for some of theOverwatch 2heroesas Doomfist is seemingly a fan of Saitama, all while protecting theOverwatchuniverse by not introducing new characters that may not be fit for its futuristic story.
Overwatch 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
