WhenOverwatchlaunched, a very different meta was present to what is seen now, and a big part of that initial meta was Mercy. Thanks to a new experimental update, she could be getting picked just as much she used to over the next few weeks, as theOverwatchhealer has received a massive buff.

Live right now, the latestexperimental update forOverwatchbrings back Mercy’s original Resurrection, and for those that never got a chance to mess around with it, they may be shocked by how powerful it is. The ability allowed Mercy to resurrect entire teams, with up to five players able to be brought back all at once. Obviously, this would completely sway a fight, making Mercy a must-have hero until Blizzard eventually made adjustments to her kit. While the changes were necessary, some miss the old Mercy, and now fans of the game’s experimental gameplay will get to see her again.

In the patch notes for the experimental update, which were shared by Reddit user andOverwatchplayerzombiezelda, players can see that Mercy’s Resurrect will be her Ultimate once again. Like before, she will be able to bring back her entire team by using the ability at the right time, though it is worth noting that it is not as blatantly overpowered as it once was. Instead of instantly casting the ability, it takes two seconds, and the range is only 8 meters instead of the original 15. As such, Mercy cannot fly into the area risk-free, with some more thought and careful positioning still needed.

As for Valkyrie, the Ultimate ability that replaced the team Resurrection inBlizzard’s big Mercy rework, it will serve as her secondary ability. However, it will not be as strong as it is normally, as Mercy having two Ultimates would be absurd. Several changes are listed for it, like the beams not spreading to nearby players and the duration lowered from 15 seconds all the way to 3 seconds. Mercy will move and fly more slowly when the ability is active, and it will have a 20-second cooldown.

While the experimental updates forOverwatchare designed to be over-the-top, something that was seen withMei’s deadly Cryo-Freeze, this Mercy change could be the strongest yet. Some players are excited, like HexTheHalls, as they never got to experience the healer’s ridiculous team rez. Others, like eXacTv, are scared of Mercy’s power once again. Obviously, with this being an experimental update, the changes are harmless fun and will not impact competitive play.

For those who enjoy controlling the angelic healer, plenty ofmemorable Mercy playscould be seen in the near future. For those playing against the character, killing the enemy Mercy is now each team’s top priority once again.

Overwatchis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
