AMinecraftplayer createdSuper Mario Bros.in the game without using mods.Minecraft’scommunity is known for its immense creativity, where players bring all kinds of constructions to life. These creations can be recreations based on other works of pop culture or original ideas.

Super Mario Bros.defined the 2D platform genreby innovating with its simplicity. Released for the NES in 1985, the game sees Mario embarking on a mission to defeat Bowser, rescue Princess Peach, and return peace to the Mushroom Kingdom. With a total of 32 Stages divided over eight worlds, the game also featured enemies that would become famous in the gaming world, such as the Koopa Troopers and the Piranha Plant. One player decided to recreate the iconic look and gameplay ofSuper Mario Bros.withinMinecraft, and the result is impressive.

User Clouser-LightStar shared a video on Reddit showing hisSuper Mario Bros.map inMinecraft. The player divided the creation journey into five days, showing on his YouTube channel the entire programming and design process. To make the project even more impressive, Clouser-LightStar did not use any mods. All he used was a data pack and a resource pack, which allows customizingMinecraftwith even more features than a texture pack. Previouslyanother player turnedMinecraftinto a 2D platformerusing a similar process, minus the textures from Nintendo’s game.

The video shared by Clouser-LightStar on the Minecraftbuilds subreddit has over 500 upvotes, while the video on his YouTube channel has over 500 views. Said video shows things like how the player recreated theSuper Mario Bros.sprites and font, created the 1:1 scale map, and the elaborate process of creating the playable Mario and adding him toMinecraft. This is not the first time a Nintendo game has inspired aMinecraftrecreation, however. Last year a player created aplayable version ofSuper Smash Bros.inMinecraft, and the result also got praise from the community of Mojang’s game.

Minecraftmods make the experience more immersiveby changing the game a lot. Mojang’s game has a large community of modders who design all sorts of features, like brewing a beer inMinecraft. Clouser-LightStar did not use mods but invested in an elaborate creative process. This in turn maintains a common trait of the community: the incredible patience and attention to detail ofMinecraftplayers to make beautiful things.
