One of the most important aspects of aPokemongame is the starters. Every game in the mainline series has players make a difficult choice at the start, as they must choose their first partner. With the status that starters hold in mostPokemongames, it is not surprising that they receive a lot of love.
As starter Pokemon are held dear, a lot of artwork is created in honor of the pocket monsters. Whether thePokemon are crocheted, drawn, or animated, there is a lot of pieces dedicated to these particular creatures. One fan drew every starter in the series so far, including the recently revealed Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito.

A Redditor by the handle orangesdeen drew every starting Pokemon, beginning with Bulbasaur and ending with Quaxly. The artist even included Pikachu and Eevee fromPokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eeveein their collection of starters. The artwork was done in celebration of therecently announcedPokemon Scarlet and Violet, welcoming the new babies to the franchise.
One of the more unique aspects of the drawings is the character that was given to each Pokemon. Totodile fromPokemon Gold and Silveris shown crouching and ready to pounce, while Chespin fromPokemon X and Ywaves at the viewer. It gives every starter their own unique feel, helping them stand out from each other. The art only includes the original forms of all the starters and not theregional variants found in somePokemongames.
The piece is getting a lot of positive feedback. Many gamers love the style of the drawings, from the cute, baby-like feel of every starter to the use of warm colors. They also love the poses that the Pokemon are in, including Oshawatt fromPokemonBlack and White, who is holding its shell defensively. The exception is Bulbasaur, who some feel looks a little creepy. One fan even noticed that Squirtle, Turtwig, and Scorbunny are all drawn in their Shiny colors, though orangesdeen stated that they chose Squirtle and Turtwig to have their alternate colors randomly. They stated that Scorbunny was chosen to be Shiny as it is their favorite non-fully evolved starter.
The art by oranegsdeen is not the only drawing collecting a group of starters together. In order to welcome Fuecoco into the series, an artist by the name GenericOnlineName drew all thestarting Fire-type Pokemontogether. Fuecoco is in the center of the piece surrounded by the other Fire-type starters, who are smiling at him. It is a cute way to welcome Fuecoco to thePokemonfamily, just as orangesdeen’s piece was an adorable way to introduce all three of the new starter pocket monsters.
