A particularly talented and dedicatedPokemonfan has created a drawing of Vaporeon in the art style of theMonster Hunterfranchise, yielding some seriously impressive results. The fan-made image combines elements of both Vaporeon’s originalPokemonform and those commonly found inMonster Hunter, although fans have likened it to a version of a specific monster.
One of the more easily identifiable Pokemon in the series, Vaporeon is a Water-type introduced as part of the very first generation of Pokemon. Vaporeon is one of eight possible final forms Eevee can take, with the others being Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. While manyPokemonfans were left disappointed by the lack of a new Eeveelution in the latest generation,aPokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC rumormay reveal the answer as to why.

The impressiveMonster Hunter-style Vaporeon was posted by artist Xezeno onto one of Reddit’s mainPokemonthreads, r/pokemon. The rendition expertly blends the two franchises together, maintaining Vaporeon’s identity while giving it a much more fearsome overhaul. While keeping its color scheme and signature frills intact, this Vaporeon features a much more reptilian look, with massive scales, beefed up limbs, and a more lizard-like head. The water element is heavily played up as well, with this Vaporeon sporting a massive water-encased tail which, upon closer inspection, can be seen harboring a few fish.
The custom drawing is being lauded by otherPokemonandMonsterfans, with the post receiving well over 300 upvotes within its first day of being on the forum. Many fans of the drawing were quick to draw direct comparisons toMonster Hunter Rise’s Mizutsune. A Leviathan first introduced inMonster Hunter Generations, Mizutsune is a water-based monster that secrets a fluid from its body with prominent fins, making the translation of it into a Vaporeon quite the sensible and logical one.
Xezeno appears to have a penchant for drawing variousPokemoncharacters in the style ofMonster Hunter. In addition to Vaporeon, the artist recently made headlines fordrawing an impressive Paradox form of Garchomp. The fan-favorite Dragon/Ground-type was given a similar reptilian/draconian overhaul, with many fans comparing the drawing to a Garchomp-ified version of monsters like Rathalos, Tigrex, and Barioth.
While theoretically extremely unlikely, the consistently positive reaction to the combining of the two franchises could potentially spark an idea with The Pokemon Company. Fans were pleasantly surprisedwhen the fighting gamePokken Tournament DXreleased, a combination ofTekkenandPokemon, so it could stand to reason thatPokemonandMonster Huntercould join forces someday.
