Summary
APokemonfan has created unique regional forms for Koffing and Weezing that have interesting cosmic inspiration. The two designs have gained a lot of fans for the concept and for giving two iconicGen 1 Pokemonattention.
Koffing and Weezing are iconic Poison-type Pokemon that got their start inPokemonRed and Blue. While the two likely would be remembered for their unique designs regardless, Koffing’s (and later Weezing’s) presence as James' Pokemon in the TV anime helped to cement its design in pop culture. As just one of the Pokemon that deals with pollution and smog, those concepts came into play in this unique regional fan art.

Pokemonfan Msatratzfratz shared their rendition ofKoffing and Weezing, giving them unique regional forms. The two Poison-type Pokemon have become Water/Rock-type and Ground/Rock-type, respectively. At first glance, it’s obvious that Koffing is based upon the Earth, recreating its shape by turning its mounds into mountainous surfaces on land, and adding water and clouds to complete the planet-like appearance. Meanwhile, Weezing looks much more dismal, with both heads of the Pokemon having a rocky, smoggy appearance to them.
According to the artist, there’s a reason behind the sudden shift from a healthy planet-like Pokemon to what they end up becoming as Weezing. Koffing is supposed to represent the Earth as it currently is, whereas Weezing represents the Earth and moon in the future. The larger of Weezing’s two heads has become a dried up, polluted Earth, whereas the smaller head is the moon, which humans now live on in the artist’s concept.
Pokemonfans in the comments seem to be intrigued by the designs, with some suggesting alternate typings or concepts. One fan preferred these fan designs to the Galarian Koffing and Weezing that actually appear in the games, while another suggested that these designs might work better as divergent evolutions rather than regional forms. Others mused about space, and wondered if thePokemonseries would eventually see it as a new regionto explore.
