Summary
An artisticPokemonfan just created some interesting Tera forms for the originalRed and BlueStarter evolutions. As was the case with the past few mainline entries before it,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetintroduced a brand-new battle gimmick.Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s gimmick is called Terastallization, and it gives Pokemon a new, crystal-like form and changes their offensive elemental abilities.
The Terastallization mechanic has typically resulted in smaller, more superficial alterations inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, but recent rumors suggest that this could change with the game’s upcoming DLC, which is collectively titledThe Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. According to leaks, thisDLC will introduce new Tera formsthat will be more in line with the popular Mega Evolutions ofPokemon X and Y. Instead of just giving the affected Pokemon a new hat and crystal-like coating, these revamped Tera evolutions will reportedly change said Pokemon’s appearance and give them drastically boosted abilities.

Many fans have drawn theories about which Pokemon will be granted these new Tera forms should they appear inScarlet and Violet’s upcoming DLC, and Reddit user Colmlukas has naturally started with theoriginal Starter trio fromPokemon Red and Blue. They recently shared their idea for how Tera forms will work on r/pokemon alongside fan concept art for Tera Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. In these new forms, Venusaur sees the leafy flower on its back replaced with a massive mushroom, Charizard loses its wings in favor of flames running down its back and shoulders, and Blastoise has its water cannons switched out for a jellyfish-like shell pattern.
Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise are among the very firstPokemonintroduced in the franchise, and have remained quite popular in the decades since their debut in the originalRed and Blue. All three were given Mega evolutions inPokemon X and Yand Gigantamax forms inPokemon Sword and Shield.
IfPokemon Scarlet and Violetis indeed adding radically different Tera forms in its upcoming DLC, it would only make sense for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise to get them given their history with thePokemonfranchise and tendency to gain new forms whenever they are introduced. Details aboutthese supposed Tera evolutionsare still scarce, and it isn’t entirely certain that they are coming at all. Nonetheless, Colmlukas’s fan art provides an interesting look at what the new Tera Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise might look like should they be introduced inPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s forthcoming batch of post-release content.
