Fans ofPokemon’s fifth generation, as represented by theBlack and Whitegames, have plenty to enjoy aboutPokemon GOat the moment. Since last year, more and more Pokemon native to the Unova region have slowly been added to the game, withthe Mythical Fire/Psychic type Victinirecently getting a free Special Research quest.
Now Niantic has confirmed that as part of an upcoming autumn-themed update, which will run from Friday October 9th at 8am PDT to Monday October 12th 1pm PDT, a rather unique Gen 5 Pokemon called Deerling will be making its debut inPokemon GO.

A Normal/Grass type, what makes Deerling unique is that it has four different forms. InPokemon Black and White, what form it would take depended on the in-game season and these forms also carried over to its evolution, Sawsbuck.
InPokemon GO’s case, players will encounter it in its Autumn form, where its fur takes on an orange color. Niantic hasn’t detailed whether it will be including its other three forms when the seasons change, though we can expect it to happen at some point.
Aside from that, the main new feature is that Berries will become more effective during this period. Not only will Berries be twice as effective when given as treats to Buddy Pokemon, players who use Pinap Berries on Pokemon they’re attempting to capture will reward them with twice as much Candy as usual. Berries will also drop more frequently when spinning Photo Discs at PokeStops and Gyms.
Players can expect to encounter certain Pokemon more often as well, specifically Oddish, Vulpix, Bayleef, Hoothoot, Sudowoodo, Yanma, Pineco, Zigzagoon, Seedot, Shroomish, Burmy in its Plant Cloak form, and Foonguss. Particularly lucky players may even find a Shiny Vulpix and autumn-themed Pokemon will be hatching from 5km Eggs.
As exciting as these additions might be for fans, Niantic is currently coming under fire from others for rolling back some of the changes it made to the game todeal with the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the pandemic still ongoing, Niantic has opted to undo these changes, meaning players unable or unwilling to leave their homes at the moment won’t be able to properly play the game.
It’s also been discovered that, while players will soon be able to transfer their Pokemon fromPokemon GOtoPokemon Sword and ShieldviaPokemon Home, players willneed to spend PokeCoinsin order to bypass a cooldown period.
In otherPokemonnews, a new trailer forSword and ShieldsCrown TundraDLCwas released, confirming some of its content and its release date of October 22nd.
