Summary
According to a new datamine,Pokemon GOcould be preparing to add Gigantamax and Dynamax as part of future updates. Like the creatures in the games,Pokemon GOhas evolved. At launch,Pokemon GOwas a relatively barebones experience, but subsequent updates have added all kinds of things for players to do in the game. And withPokemon GOstill wildly popular, it’s no surprise that developer Niantic has continued to add new features to the experience.
New content is added toPokemon GOon a regular basis, though it’s not always well-received by the community. Some recent updates, like the Avatar changes, were widely panned, though the introduction of Raids years back was applauded. It seems safe to say that some upcomingPokemon GOupdates will fall in the latter camp and be popular with the community, though that may depend on how they’re implemented.

The Pokemod Group has leaked newPokemon GOfeatures that could be on the way, thanks to datamining efforts. They discovered codenames for features called Bread and BreadDough, which they believe refer toDynamax and Gigantamax, features that were added to the series inPokemon Sword and Shield. For those unfamiliar with the concept, Dynamaxing makes Pokemon grow to a gigantic size, whereas Gigantamaxing makes them giant as well as dramatically alter their appearance. There’s evidence to suggest thatPokemon GOis preparing to add G-Max moves as part of the Gigantamax rollout as well.
Pokemon GO Could Be Adding Gigantamaxing in a Future Update
Another piece to thePokemon GOGigantamax puzzle points to the addition of new structures, currently referred to in the code as Stations. The leakers theorize that Stations refer toPokemon Dens, which will potentially be where Dynamax and Gigantamax raids are hosted. It’s possible there will be additional requirements to interact with these as opposed to regular gyms, but the data indicates that players will be able to get items and Field Research tasks from them, so they will share some similar functionality.
The leakers stressed that this information all comes from dataming efforts, and so it’s entirely possible that Niantic’s plans for Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing inPokemon GOwill change significantly between now and when the features are actually added to the game. For now,Pokemon GOplayers can enjoy the ongoing season and look forward to thePokemon GO Fest 2024 global event, which will take place from July 13 to July 14.
