This weekend marks the start ofPokemon GOFest 2021and trainers can already purchase their tickets and start preparing for the big event. The two-day festivity is jam-packed with features and bonuses and should offer a ton of excitement and value for players of all experience levels. The first day is “Catch!” themed and brings back rotation habitats, but the second day is going to be all about the “Raid!” feature.

Trainers will obviously want to clear out some bag space, stock up on Remote and Premium Raid Passes, and start preparing their best metagame rosters for the featured five-star Battle Raids that will be in the spotlight on Sunday. In order to do that,Pokemon GOtrainers should pay close attention to which Pokemon are on their way to the raid list and start updating counter rosters as necessary.

ThePvE metgagame inPokemon GOhas shifted quite a bit since some of these bosses appeared, so trainers will have a bit of work to do. One of the most popular bosses of the day is going to be Mewtwo, so trainers should start preparing for that fight early. Mewtwo is a Psychic-type, which means that players will want to field a roster full of Bug-, Dark-, and Ghost-type Pokemon to have the best shot at victory. There are a lot of new Pokemon available since Mewtwo’s original appearance in EX Raids, so trainers may need to make some updates if they have an old roster saved.

Yveltal - Snarl/Dark Pulse

Tyranitar - Bite/Crunch

Trainers who don’t have the proper counters ready to go may want to considerspending some Stardust, TMs, and Candy to power up the best options they have in their collections. Also, it will be important to stick with a decent sized group for this particular fight. Top tier players with the best counters, bonuses, and perks may be able to trio this boss, but average endgame players will still want 5-6 party members to head into the big fight together to avoid any wasted resources during the event.

In the coming weeks, we should learn more about what other events will be arriving during the rest of theSeason of Discovery. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
