Pokemon GOtrainers are off to a busy year already as they run around competing in Battle Raids and taking advantage of event bonuses. That combined with the recent release ofa new wave of Gen 5 Pokemonmeans that there is a ton to keep track of in the mobile AR game this month.

AsPokemon GOplayers start collecting the latest wave of Gen 5 creatures, they are likely going to want to know which ones are the most valuable and which ones aren’t really good for much more than a Pokedex entry. Taking the correct Pokemon into PvE or PvP battles inPokemon GOis crucial to success, so it’s good to take a little time and study the metagame any time new Pokemon are released.

The latest batch brings some interesting additions toPokemon GO, but not very many that will shake up theBattle Raid or Battle Trainer metagames. That said, there are still a few new Pokemon who are worth mentioning and keeping any eye on going forward…

Best New Pokemon

Conkeldurr -At the top of the list is Conkeldurr. Get ready to see a lot of this one going forward. Conkeldurr is now the second best Fight-type in the game, which is going to make it very relevant to both Battle Raids and Trainer Battles.

Good New Pokemon

Haxorus and Gigalith - These two are going to be totally acceptable options to use in Battle Raids or Trainer Battles, but will still be outclassed by a handful of better options most of the time.

Keep An Eye On…

Archeops - Archeops has some great stats paired with awful moves for the time being. Players should hang onto to any high IV spawns that they catch for hopes that new moves are added in the future.

Escavalier - This Pokemon is a totally acceptable choice for some PvP matchups, but shouldn’t really show its face on any Gym rosters.

For now, players may want to keep hunting downthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameif improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
