One of the most exciting PlayStation 5 games that Sony announced at its showcase in June wasRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The impressive trailer gaveRatchet & Clankfans an idea of what to expect from the story and gameplay, while also introducing a brand new female Lombax character that has been confirmed to be playable. SinceRatchet & Clank: Rift Apartisn’t expected to be a PS5 launch title, fans weren’t sure exactly when they would get to see more of it. But now it’s been confirmed that the game will be featured at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event on Thursday, August 27.
TheGamescom Opening Night Live presentationwill kick off at 11am PT on August 27, giving fans a look at a PlayStation 5 gameplay demo ofRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The existence of a gameplay demo seems to suggest that the game is further along in development than some may have guessed, which is good news for fans.

Following theRatchet & Clank: Rift ApartPS5 demo showcase at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley will be speaking with Insomniac Games developers about the upcoming title. Keighley has confirmed that he will ask Insomniac about thefemale Lombax, but it’s unclear just how much information the developers will be willing to share. Fans will just have to tune in to find out more.
So far, there’s not a lot of information available when it comes toRatchet & Clank: Rift Apartand everything the new game will entail. Based on its reveal trailer, it’s clear that the game will have a new portal-hopping mechanic where players are able to seamlessly go from one world to the next, and that there is a new playable, female Lombax character. TheRatchet & Clank: Rift Apartreveal traileralso showed off some of the combat, so it will be interesting to see what aspect of the game the new trailer focuses on.
Since theRatchet & Clank: Rift Apartreveal, the ways in which it will take advantage of thePS5 SSDhave been detailed, and it’s also been confirmed that the game will have a mix of new and old planets for fans to explore. Hopefully the new trailer gives fans a closer look at some of the levels they will be able to play through in the new game.
Something thatRatchet & Clank: Rift Apartfans shouldn’t expect, though, is for the trailer to have any kind of release date. Unless Sony has a big surprise in store, it’s unlikely thatRatchet & Clank: Rift Apartwill be aPS5 launch title, and will instead be available at some point in 2021.
