Aside fromShadows of Rose,Resident Evil Village: Winters' Expansionadded lots of new content to Mercenaries.Mercenaries is a unique arcade modewhere players attempt to get the best score possible. WhenResident Evil Villagefirst came out in 2021, there were four stages, and players could only play as Ethan Winters.
So when Mercenaries got additional content with the expansion, it made sense that Capcom would include some fan favorites as new characters to play as. Thethree characters addedare Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and Alcina Dimitrescu. Chris is unlocked by default, but Heisenberg and Dimitrescu are unavailable at the start. Here is how players canunlock Heisenberg and Dimistrescuas playable characters.

How to Unlock Karl Heisenberg
Of the two characters, Heisenberg is the easiest of the two to unlock. AllResident Evil Villageplayers need to do isget an A Rank on all six stages. WithChris as a playable character, it is significantly easier to get A Rank than with Ethan. The reason for this is that Chris has access to significantly more powerful guns right out of the gate.
Once all six stages have been cleared with an A Rank or better, players will get a notification that Heisenberg has been unlocked.

How to Unlock Alcina Dimistrescu
The final character, Alcina Dimitrescu, is a little more difficult to unlock than Heisenberg. In order to playas the infamous Lady Dimitrescu, players will need to achieve S Rank on The Bloody River. The Bloody River is one of the new stages added in the expansion and is fairly difficult. If players use Chris or Heisenberg, they will have an easier time getting S Rank.
Heisenberg’s Abilities
Unlike Ethan and Chris, both Heisenberg and Dimitrescu do not use guns. Instead, they have a unique set of abilities that let them dispatch their foes. Heisenberg’smain attack is with his hammer. Swinging the hammer is the default attack, and if players hold the button down for a brief period of time, Heisenberg will slam the ground with his hammer. As players do damage, Heisenberg’s hammer will store electricity, which is then discharged by the slam attack.
In addition to his melee attack, Heisenberg also has access to two different kinds of ranged attacks. The first is with bits of scrap metal, and the other is a buzzsaw. The longer players charge these two attacks, the more damage they do. If scrap metal is upgraded between areas, more projectiles will be launched the longer that players charge the attack.

Aside from that, Heisenberg can also summon one of his Soldat Jet minions to rush at enemies and self-destruct upon hitting a wall. This ability has a cooldown, so players will have to wait for a bit after using it.
Finally,Heisenberg can conjure a magnetic fieldthat boosts his damage with his hammer, scrap, and buzzsaw. The drawback to this, however, is that Heisenberg will move slower while the field is active. Once the field is up, players can dismiss it by simply tapping the same button.

Dimitrescu’s Abilities
Lady Dimistrescu is the tallest of the playable characters in Mercenaries, and it shows as she looms over her foes. She is an unstoppable juggernaut that uses her razor-sharp nails to shred enemies into ribbons. She has three separate attacks where she slashes foes with her left hand, right hand, or both. Not only that, but she can grab an enemy and slam them onto the ground, often doing fatal damage.
Aside from her nails, Dimitrescu’s primary mechanic is her Thrill Gauge. As players do damage with her attacks, the Thrill Gauge slowly fills up. Once the gauge turns red, Dimtrescu’s abilities will do more damage, and she will move faster. When the gauge is full, her damage increases even further, and she is able to summonone of her daughters, who will automatically attack any nearby targets. The gauge will only deplete if Dimitrescu flinches from damage or if she goes too long without attacking another enemy.
In addition to all of her melee options, Dimitrescu can also unleash swarms of flies that attack targets that are out of her range. Finally, Dimitrescu has the ability to throw a large ornate vanity at her foes, doing colossal damage to everything within range. This ability has a cooldown, which can be reduced by filling the thrill gauge and upgrading the ability between areas.
Resident Evil Villageis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
