One of the most popular questlines fromGenshin Impact’s Sumeru region is rumored to be making a return in Version 3.6 later this year, seeing the continuation of one of the region’s main sub-stories. While each new region added to the HoYoverse RPG typically has an overarching story involving the Archon or region as a whole, new locales often come with major sub-quests. The Sumeru desert recently sawthe “Golden Slumber” questlineinviting players to explore the desert’s pyramids and introducing major NPC Jeht. Now, a popular Sumeru storyline is set to return in a future version.Among the many sub-stories featured throughoutGenshin Impact’s various regions, the Aranara questline has become one of the game’s most popular. The storyline sees the Traveler working with a group of mysterious forest spirits to fight back the “Withering” sprouting up across the region. The Aranara story serves as one of the most expansive sub-stories in the game so far, with multiple branching questlines and exploration mechanics tied to progression. The posts does caution that everything leaked is subject to change, but reveals thatthe story of the Aranarawill continue during the Version 3.6 update. The expansive questline first added in Version 3.0 saw players traveling all across the Sumeru rainforests, completing different challenges and helping the Aranara located throughout the region. Aranara have not been heavily featured in a new questline since the original “Dream Nursery” quest.
While many fans will be excited to see the return ofGenshin Impact’s forest fairies, others have voiced their complaints about the nature of the original quest. Many criticisms about the “Dream Nursery” story have been related to the length withthe full storyline featured in Version 3.0taking as much, if not more, time to complete as the region’s main quest. Fans have also felt the quest is bloated with content while offering too few rewards for the amount of gameplay involved.
The Aranara story’s continuation will serve as just one of several expansions toGenshin Impact’s story planned throughout the next patches. Version 3.5 has been leaked to feature the next chapter of the Archon Quest surrounding the Traveler, withDainsleif heavily suggested to be returning.Genshin Impact’s Version 3.6 is also heavily rumored to be receiving a new playable area alongside the update, typically bringing its own new addition to the game’s story.
