The video game development studio EA Motive Montreal joined Twitter at the end of May, which led torumors that a newStar Warsgamewould be announced this week thanks to the input of video game journalists like Jason Shreier and Jeff Grubb. Clearly that announcement never happened, but earlier today a leaker who goes by Bespin Bulletin on Instagram suggested the game, believed to beStar Wars Project Maverick, will instead by revealed on June 9th.
Much likeleaked information aboutCall of Duty 2020publicized today, this potential reveal date is unverified and should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, Bespin Bulletin was referred to as “one of the most accurateStar Warsleakers” when the social media post was shared on Reddit, and some seem to believe thatProject Maverickcould be a prominent title as part of Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event.

The PS5 reveal was delayed by Sony this week in solidarity with ongoing Black Lives Matter protests and movements across the country, and the official announcement of that delay is now themost-liked gaming tweet of all time. With that in mind, it would make sense thatProject Maverick’s reveal was delayed as a result, but with no official word on when the game or the PS5 will be unveiled, it’s currently hard to say for certain.
The unannouncedStar Warsproject was leaked via the European PlayStation Network(PSN) in March, and at the time Schreier said the game is a smaller project unaffiliated with theStar Wars: BattlefrontandJedi: Fallen Orderfranchises. Having moreStar Warstitles is an exciting prospect for fans, especially after EA confirmed that the popularStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderhas sequels on the way.
When first leaked, thePSN listing suggestedProject Maverickwould have multiplayer gameplaythat can support five players using the Play Together feature. This listing had “beta” listed in its ID, so interested players could see it emerge again in a testing capacity at some point in the near future.
Whether or not that near future forStar Wars Project Maverickwill be June 9 as Bespin Bulletin suggests is yet to be seen. However, witheverything the world knows about the secretStar Warsgamebased on previous leaks, there may be something fun to look forward to soon.
