P.T., the playable teaser for Konami’sSilent Hills, released nearly eight years ago, but that hasn’t stopped fans from imagining what could have been. One such fan shared their efforts to create a real game based off of theP.T. Silent Hillsteaser withinDreams, and the progress they’ve made over the last two years is impressive.
As spotted byTheGamer, Redditor DrJones20 took to the platform to share the graphical improvements they’ve made since their first efforts to recreate the game. The efforts are far from a waste of time. The side-by-side video demonstrates exactly how scenes have evolved over the years sinceDreams' release, revealing more detailed character models, environments, and atmospheric lighting. While it’s not a perfect match to the actual teaser, especially once Norman Reedus came into focus in the teaser’s tag, it’s very impressive to see how faithfully DrJones20 was able torecreateSilent Hill’s scenesfrom the teaser that set the internet on fire.
While someP.T.remakes have been content to simply remake thelooping hallway sequence, DrJones20 has taken it a step further in expanding the concept to an entire game. According to the game’s listing, the title puts players in the shoes of Jeffrey Harper, a Brahms police officer who has been sent to Silent Hill in an effort to control a surge in homicides. Whether or not DrJones20’s imagining has any similarity to the story that Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro, and Junji Ito were plotting is unknown, as any details regarding the title following its cancellation have been next to non-existent. However, fans who own a copy ofDreamscan check out the reimagining now.
There’s been rumor after rumor regarding the potential return for the series, with some claiming aSilent Hillrebootis in the works, while others suggest a remake. Unfortunately, nothing concrete has been revealed by Konami, so it remains to be seen if any of these rumors are legitimate. The one thing that’s clear, though, is that fans have never let go of the survival horror franchise or the potential thatSilent Hillscould have brought to the table.
