Summary
While there is practically no recent news onProject Rene, fans ofThe Simsare already eagerly anticipating it. It has been over a decade since they were treated to a mainlineSimsgame, andProject Renepromises to take the concept to new heights when it finally hits store shelves. And even though there are plenty of areas that Maxis should focus on with this sequel, it will hopefully take one ofThe Sims 4’s best mechanics for a spin.
Just like withmost ofThe Simstitles, there are a plethora of careers for players to choose from inThe Sims 4. Not only did the game launch with a bunch, but DLCs have also added a considerable amount.Project Renewill likely be filled to the brim with possible careers as well, but when it releases, it needs to go all in on the concept. There should be more careers than players know what to do with, and with each DLC, that number should only grow.

Project Rene Needs to Copy The Sims 4’s Approach to Careers
The Sims 4 Took Careers to the Next Level
SinceThe Sims 4emulates real life, the player’s Sims must get a job if they want to get anywhere in the world. Thankfully, Maxis has filled the game with numerous options to choose from. In the base game, there are around 18 unique jobs to pick, with some being full-time and others part-time. While some players may have been satisfied with that number, the studio has introduced so many more through DLC and post-launch updates, which has given players dozens more choices.
Additionally, Maxis also introducedthe concept of Active Careersto the mix. These six jobs were added through DLC, and each one requires players to actually be involved in their Sim’s career. No longer do they simply vanish into the void, instead, players are required to complete all sorts of tasks to help them get ahead in life. Even though some are definitely better than others, these career types have really givenThe Sims 4a whole new feel.
There are so many different types of careers, both standard and active, forThe Sims 4playersto choose from. That has given the game a ton of replayability and players virtually limitless flexibility to create the Sim of their dreams. While there are definitely some fan-favorite careers, players are really only limited by their imagination at this point. As more DLCs add even more new careers, that possibility only grows.
Project Rene Should Go All in on the Concept
Project Renewill likely include careers as well, as it is a series' staple. But, if it really wants to blow audiences away, then it needs to take the concept to the next level. Not only should it adopt many of the careers thatThe Sims 4added, but it also needs to give players countless more to choose from. Just like in real life, there should be no shortage of things for Sims to make money from. And once players start getting bored with one job, even more should be introduced via DLC.
Maxis should not just stop at adding standard careers either, asProject Reneshould also adopt the Active Careers mechanic. The six Active Careers thatThe Sims 4introduced showed potential, but the feature could be so much more if given the chance.Project Reneis that chance, and the studio can capitalize on that. The game should be filled to the brim with never-before-seen Active Careers for players to mess around with, because doing so would be the perfect way for it to stand out from the crowd.
