The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimmay primarily be about adventuring, completing quests, and slaying dragons, but players are also able to purchase their own homes, get married, and even adopt children.Skyrimplayers can get married in the game by obtaining the Amulet of Mara and using it to propose to their lover (assuming that other prerequisites have been met, of course). SomeSkyrimfans have created real-life versions of the Amulet of Mara, and one was even used in a recent proposal.

Reddit user Edgyangel221 recently revealed to theSkyrimsubreddit that their boyfriend proposed to them using a real-life Amulet of Mara. They shared an image of the amulet and explained that they thought theElder Scrollscommunity would enjoy it. The post has over 12,000 upvotes at the time of this writing, so it seems as though Edgyangel221 was correct in assuming thatSkyrimfans would get a kick out of a real-world proposal happening with theAmulet of Mara.

In the comments on the post, Edgyangel221 joked about how they would need to make some ofSkyrim’s sweet rollsto celebrate. They also claimed that they responded with, “Interested in me, are you?” which is a line pulled straight from the game whenSkyrimplayers attempt to propose.

This is far from the first time that someone has used a real-life version of a video game object to ask someone to marry them. For example, there have been numerous instances ofStardew Valleyfans using Mermaid’s Pendantsto propose instead of a traditional engagement ring. Real-life versions ofOverwatchlootboxeshave also been used in marriage proposals over the years as well.

In other cases, people have hidden the marriage proposals inside actual games. This has happened withSuper Mario Maker, with a player using the game’s level creation tools to spell out “Will you marry me?” with the game’s brick blocks.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how the nextElder Scrollsgame handles marriage and proposals. The Elder Scrolls 6is still in early developmentand likely won’t see the light of day for years, but one has to wonder how these types of features will be different when comparing the new game toSkyrim. With noElder Scrolls 6release date yet in sight, fans will likely be waiting quite awhile before they find out more information.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Editionis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
