Skyrim Battles of the Champions Letter

The Civil War is a contentious issue inSkyrim, and siding with the Stormcloaks or the Imperials is no easy decision, but this quest ensures that both sides have an extra fun reward for all their hard work. Getting this armor requires completing a brand new and relatively short quest.

Receive The “Battle of Champions” Letter

Before the play can go off and fight as their side’s champion, they must first receive the call to arms. There are two ways to go about this, depending on if the player has already joined the war. If the player already has picked a side and joined the war, the courier will hand them a letter from their officer, calling them to battle. Players may have to have enteredthe Drunken Huntsman in Whiterunat least once to trigger this.

If the player has yet to pick a side, they can find the letter themselves in Whiterun’s Drunken Huntsman Inn. The building is in front of the player on the left when they first enter the city. The letter is then sitting on the bar for anyone to read. From here, what must be done depends on which side the player chooses.

Skyrim Yrsarald Thirce-Pierced

Players must pass a Persuade check to convince the Legate to let them fight as the Imperial Champion. This check requires a Level 50 in the Speech skill to pass. If players haven’t reached this level yet, they can usetheir Alchemy to brew potionsto boost their Speech level temporarily.

Stormcloak Rebellion: Bring Snow Bear Pelts To Yrsarald Thrice-Pierced

The Stormcloaksrequire players to put in more legwork to become their champion. They ask the player to bring five Snow Bear Pelts to prove their mettle, but if players don’t have that laying around, there is another way. A woman named Klija Wolf-Claw will spawn in Kynesgrove, just south of Windhelm, and she is carrying pelts of her own to submit to become champion. The player can steal these and present them instead.

Skyrim Imperial & Stormcloak Champion Armor

Regardless of how they acquire the pelts, once they have them, the player must head to the Palace of the Kings at the very North of Windhelm. Enter the room in the North-West during the day, and Yrsarald Thrice-Pieced will be there. Present him with the pelts, and the player will become the Stormcloak Champion.

Defeat The Opposing Champion in Battle

Once the player has been declared the champion for either side, the commanding officer will give them a key to a chest. This chest contains the unique armor and weapons for the champion, along with a map of the battle location. It takes place in a field just North of Whiterun.

Once there, players will face the opposing champion and a small handful of soldiers in battle. Winning the battle is simply a matter of killing all those on the opposing side. Although, be warned, as a potentialDragon spawn-pointis located near the battle site, and it may attack if one spawns. Once the opposing champion is dead, the quest will be complete, but don’t forget to loot the corpse, as the player can get the unique weapons and armor of the side they didn’t choose.
