Despite coming out less than half a year ago,Spider-Man: Miles Moraleshas already sold in incredible numbers. In fact, when game sales for every major console over the last 12 months are tallied up,Spider-Man: Miles Moralesfinds itself in the number five spot, ahead of a ton of major games that were available for the entire 12-month period.
The information comes courtesy of Mat Piscatella, the Executive Director & Video Game Industry Advisor for the market research company NPD Group. Piscatella shared the information on his Twitter feed in a flurry of tweets that also detailed thebest-selling Nintendo Switch games, Xbox games, and PlayStation games over the last 12 months.

One graph tweeted by Piscatella shows all the sales numbers for games from every console stacked up against each other, withSpider-Man: Miles Moralescoming in fifth place. The feat is particularly impressive considering theSpider-Mangame is a PlayStation exclusive. Every game in the four spots ahead ofMiles Morales, from thefrequently updatedCall of Duty: Black OpsCold WartoMadden NFL 21, are cross-platform titles. On top of that, with the exception ofBlack Ops Cold WarandAssassin’s Creed: Valhalla(which both launched the same week asMiles Moralesin November 2020) each of the games occupying the top four spots have been available for a much longer time than the web-slinging adventure game.
Piscatella also shared another graph that breaks down sales numbers for PlayStation consoles alone for the month of March, and theSpider-Mantitle holds its own on that list as well. In fact,Spider-Man: Miles Moralesholds the number 2 spot for PlayStation sales for March, behind onlyCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.Impressively,Miles Moralesbeat out other PlayStation exclusives likeGhost of Tsushimaand thecontroversialThe Last of Us Part 2on both NPD Group’s PlayStation exclusive list and the list that takes all major consoles into account.
On yet another list, this time for best selling Switch games for March, Capcom’smuch lovedMonster Hunter: Risetakes the number one spot. It’s also the only title not published by Nintendo to even make the list, with games likeSuper Mario 3D WorldandAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfilling up the remaining nine slots. The Xbox list is filled with mostly cross-platform titles likeCall of Dutygames andMortal Kombat 11, with the most interesting detail being thatMarvel’s Avengersgrabbed the number 9 spot for Xbox sales in March.
As thePlayStation 5 continues to sell out almost immediatelywhenever any store gets new stock, and consideringSpider-Man: Miles Moralesis one of the games PlayStation fans are still most excited about, sales of the super hero game will likely continue on its current trajectory for quite some time. Plus, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s thirdSpider-Manfilm is coming out in December this year, when more consumers will have a PlayStation 5 of their own, which is a nice set of circumstances that can only aid sales of theMiles Moralesvideo game.
Spider-Man: Miles Moralesis available now on PS4 and PS5.
