AAA video games using Marvel Comics properties are becoming increasingly common. One of the most popular games starring a superhero from the brand is Insomniac Games’Spider-Man, originally released in 2018 for the PS4. This game then received a spin-off in the form ofSpider-Man: Miles Morales, where it follows Miles in his adventure in saving New York City from a new threat while Peter Parker is away. Following that, an official sequel will be coming to the PS5, starring both Spider-Men andthe infamous symbiote Venom. These games are all exclusive to PlayStation consoles, with bothSpider-Man RemasteredandSpider-Man: Miles Moralesbeing available to play on the PS5. However, recent years have seen Sony allowing some of these exclusives move from its consoles to PC, with the most recent port being 2018’sGod of War. This trend is continuing, as June 2022’s State of Play Presentation revealed thatSpider-Man Remasteredwill be swinging onto PClater this year in August. One tidbit that wasn’t formally announced with the trailer, however, is thatSpider-Man: Miles Moraleswill also be coming to the platform.RELATED:Images of Canceled Marvel MMO Revealed OnlineAfter theState of Play Presentation, a blog by Insomniac’s Ryan Schneider was posted on PlayStation’s website. It notes that both games will be coming to PC, with controller or mouse and keyboard options being available for ways that players can control Spider-Man. These PC ports ofSpider-ManRemasteredandSpider-Man: Miles Moraleswill also have PC-specific settings such as adjustable rendering and ray traced-reflections, along with other features that will be announced at a later date.
According to Schneider, these ports forSpider-Man RemasteredandSpider-Man: Miles Moraleswere possible thanks to PlayStation’s partner studio Nixxes Software, who was instrumental in optimizing both games for PC. Jurjen Katsman, Founder of Nixxes Software, notes that the company was a huge fan of Insomniac Games' work, including bothSpider-Mantitles, and was honored to help the developers port the game to the new platform.
The post concludes with the release windows for the PC versions of the games, whereMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredwill be releasing in August as mentioned earlier.Spider-Man: Miles Moraleswon’t be coming to the PC until Fall of this year, with no specific release date at this time, however. This should be a timely revisit for fans to partake in, asSpider-Man 2will be released sometime in 2023.
Spider-Man: Miles Moralesis out now on PS4 and PS5 and will be coming to PC in Fall 2022.
