Summary
Splatoon 3has revealed a slew of new gear that players will be able to gain for free. The news comes alongside the reveal ofSplatoon 3’s next Splatfest, the specially-themed SpringFest event.
Splatoon 3doesn’t releaseitems for Splatfestsevery time, but some special seasonal and holiday-themed ones have included them previously. Halloween and the Holiday season both saw unique gear added to the title that players could unlock to complete their Splatfest ensemble.

Now, SpringFest is following the pattern by announcing new gear, including four pairs of sunglasses and nine varieties of shoes. The Pinhole Shades feature logos and images on the lenses themselves, including that ofSplatoon 3idol group Deep Cut, and come in four colors. The shoes are variations of some designs already existing in the game, with recolors and unique touches added, like idol-themed color schemes. The majority of the items are in bright and pastel colors, emulating plants blooming in the spring season.

While the upcoming Springfest Splatfest has already been announced, an official release date is still being kept under wraps, with only a general window of April revealed so far. Generally,Splatfest-themed itemslike this become available shortly before the Splatfest begins, meaning fans will have to wait a while before they can pick up this free gear. Once it’s available, players can unlock it by accessing the SRL News Channel on their Nintendo Switch and finding the post announcing the gear. Launching the game through the post will add the items to the player’s inventory.
Splatoon 3has a lot of content for fans to be excited about right now. The game’s current season, Chill Season, will be coming to an end at the end of February, and spring’s Fresh Season will start immediately after. Fresh Season inSplatoon 3will add new gear, stages, weapons, kits, and more to the game. Prior to that, on February 22,Splatoon 3’s Side Order DLCwill launch, giving players a new story mode to explore, featuringSplatoon 2’s Agent 8 and idol group Off the Hook.
AlthoughSplatoon 3may be ending its live service period later this year, the game still has plenty of life left, with new content expected every quarter up to that point.
