As one of the oldest and most highly revered collectible card games in the world,Magic: The Gatheringhas been no stranger to collaborations and tie-ins with some of the biggest names in the world of gaming. Magic: The Gathering’s Secret Lair sets have introduced some of the most popular franchises in gaming and pop culture into the long-running card game. The franchise has seen tie-in cards published for a limited time featuring franchises likeStranger ThingsandThe Walking Dead,while the card game has already confirmed future Secret Drops for Riot Games' popular animated seriesArcaneas well asFortnite. Announced alongsideFortnite’s addition to the card game was another iconic piece of video game history inStreet Fighter, with Wizards of the Coast recently revealing the cards to be featured for the crossover.

Wizards of the Coast officially unveiled the eight cards to be featured in theStreet FighterSecret Lairwith several of the franchise’s most iconic characters represented through the crossover. Fans ofStreet Fighterwill be able to purchase cards featuring characters like Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Guile directly from Wizards through the Secret Lair website, with the promotion running through March 18. While Wizards of the Coast’s Mark Heggen has said that the cards were designed withMagic’s Commander format in mind, they will be legal to play in other formats like Vintage and Legacy.

Street Fighterwill be joined in the February Superdrop alongside several other promotional cards with many tying intoMagic: The Gathering’s most recent set,Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. The limited-time printing will also feature cards based on the official manga for the Japan-themed set from artist Riyou Kamei, chibi-styled planeswalkers from artist Uta Natsume, and full-art lands based on Japanese “Ukiyo-e” style woodblock paintings.

The collaboration withMagic: The Gatheringcomes at an opportune time forStreet Fighteras the franchise prepares for several major events. Alongside the Season Final for the Capcom Pro Tour 2021 this coming weekend featuring some of the world’s bestStreet Fighterplayers, rumors have also begun to swirl that the tournament will feature thelong-awaited announcement ofStreet Fighter 6. Between theMagic: The Gatheringcrossover and one of the biggest competitive events of the year,Street Fighteris looking poised to make waves in the gaming industry soon.
