Nintendo Switch owners have long felt that they missed out onsome of the Wii U’s best-selling gamesdue to that console’s poor sales, so Nintendo porting many hit games to the Switch has exposed fans everywhere to what they may have missed from 2012 to 2017. And while many of these these ports have enhanced the original game with better performance, extra playable characters, and the like,Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Furyhas comparatively gone above and beyond by adding a brand new adventure in the form ofBowser’s Fury.
Just a day after the game’s official release, fans have been hard at workfinding different Easter eggs,attempting to 100% complete their game files, and even testing out how the game might play during a speedrun, especially since it now includes snappier gameplay. Now, over in theBowser’s Furydepartment, oneSuper Mario 3D Worldfan has discovered a glitch that may give players a leg-up during speedruns.

The originalSuper Mario 3D Worldintroduced fans to Plessie, a giant, friendly plesiosaur-like creature who helps Mario and co. traverse quickly through water, and inSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Plessie is there to lend a helping hand to Mario, who isnow joined by Bowser Jr.,once again. On Reddit, user CasperThePancake posted a video showing that players riding on Plessie can traverse the side of the volcano at Mount Magmeow to nearly reach the top of it rather quickly.
It seems that by approaching the volcano at Mount Magmeow at a certain angle, players can utilize a glitch that helps them use Plessie’s hefty jump to climb up the ledges of the volcano. It is also likely that players can get higher up on the volcano than shown in the video above. It’s worth noting that while this glitch could come in handy during speedruns, players will need tocollect certain Cat Shinesfirst in order to access the water on that side of the volcano, so it might be rather out of the way for those attempting to speedrunBowser’s Furyon any %. Of course, this means that any 100% speedruns could certainly use this newly discovered glitch much to their advantage.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Furymay be one of the final celebrations ofSuper Mario Bros.’s 35th anniversary, but Nintendo has really made it count, with a newly added online multiplayer mode, added gyro and touch control support, and more. For many Switch owners,Super Mario 3D Worldwas one of the last Wii U games missing from their collection, and now, the game’s enhanced port on the Switch hasgarnered overwhelmingly positive reviews.
Although the new game offers classicSuper Marioplatforming that fans have come to know and love, many have consideredBowser’s Furyto be anextension of the more open-worldSuper Mario Odyssey.And while Mario’s monumental anniversary is soon coming to a close, it will be interesting to see if Nintendo has any more celebrations in store for fans of the iconic plumber.
