At this point, there are probably over a hundred different Classes and Jobs players can use across theFinal Fantasyfranchise. There are, of course, standard Jobs such as Hunter, Thief, or Knight but there are also odd jobs such as Puppetmaster, Geomancer, and of course Blue Mages.

Blue Mages are a type of magician like White Mages, Red Mages, or Black Mages but these ones specialize in using Blue Magic to copy or acquire skills and abilities of the monsters they fight. It differs from mage to mage, but usually, they do this by capturing, copying, or stealing these skills by fulfilling some requirement like getting hit by the skill or watching it being used. And, there are plenty of examples of iconic characters in anime that have a similar set of powers or would fill the same role as a Blue Mage.
8Rimuru Tempest: That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime
Let’s start things off with a pretty obvious example from a serieswith a third season on the way, Rimuru Tempest fromThat Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime. Rimuru was originally human, but, upon being reincarnated in this new world, he took on the form of a basic slime with a few unique abilities.
From there, he grew at an exponential rate thanks to his innate “cheat” skills. His primary one, Predator, allows him to steal the abilities of anything he devours and absorbs using Mimicry. While a lot of other examples on this list copy the abilities of those around him, Rimuru is one of the only examples of a character that almost exclusively uses skills taken from the monsters he fights against.

7Chrollo Lucilfer: Hunter X Hunter
Another obvious example, but probably one of the most creative implementations of a Blue Mage-type skillset, it’s Chrollo Lucilfer fromHunter X Hunter. In theHxHsetting, there’s a power system called Nen that uses life energy, and through mastery of Nen, people can create their own individual abilities that can do anything. Well, almost anything, depending on how well-thought-out the power is and the restrictions based around using it.
Chrollo’s Skill Hunter ability is one such example, as it’s a power that quite literally allows Chrollo to steal the abilities from other Nen users and use them for himself, which is likely only possible because of his Specialist Nen Affinity. But, because this is such a strong ability, Chrollo does have to fulfill a variety of conditions for it to work, similar to Blue Mages. There are a couple of steps to Skill Hunter, but the primary ones are having his opponent place their palm on the palm print of the Skill Hunter book or witnessing their Nen Ability in use. Chrollo is such a mysterious character, even with thechapters that have started going into his past, but his ability is one of the most memorable in the show.

6Yuta Okkotsu: Jujutsu Kaisen
Yuta Okkotsu, who is the main character ofthe box office hitJujutsu Kaisen: 0. is quite the interesting example of a “Blue Mage” in that he doesn’t specialize in any sort of copying ability, but rather he has such a boundless amount of the resourceJujutsu Kaisenuses for “mana” that he can just forcefully copy other abilities.

See, Yuta is a descendant of Michizane Sugawara, one of the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerers in history, and as such he has an absurd capacity and innate skill with Cursed Energy. Because of this, and because of the powers that come from Rika, the “Queen of Curses” that Yuta unknowingly created, Yuta is able to copy the Jujutsu Techniques of other people even if they’re hereditary techniques of specific Sorcerer clans. Of course, this technique also applies to copying the Techniques of Curses as well, given that it’s an actual Technique and not just raw Cursed Energy.
5All Titan Shifters: Attack On Titan
People likely weren’t expecting this entry, as no one looks at Eren Yeager and thinks “yeah that’s a Blue Mage”. But, if it’s about an ability that can copy or steal the abilities of others and usually requires some sort of “condition”, then any Titan Shifter in theAttack on Titanuniverse counts.
Basically, if a Titan Shifter eats another Titanafter beating them in a fight, or even if a regular Titan eats a Titan Shifter, they completely absorb that person, their memories, and their powers. So, as a non-spoiler example, if the Colossal Titan ate the Armored Titan, then the two powers of these legendary Titans would stack and it would become a gigantic armored monstrosity.

4Naofumi Iwatani: Rising Of The Shield Hero
Honestly, the way thatall the Legendary and Vassal Weapons workinThe Rising of the Shield Herois so interesting. Each weapon has its own method of leveling up and getting stronger, whether that’s through absorbing ores, scanning other weapons, or even feeding monster materials into it.
But, all of the Legendary Weapons also seem to share one specific Skill, the ability to unlock new forms for the weapons by having the core of their weapon absorb monster materials.

For example, early on Naofumi drops some Balloon monster skin into the “core” of his shield and he unlocks the Orange Small Shield. So essentially, by defeating enemies and having their weapons “eat” some part of the enemy, the Legendary Weapons unlock all sorts of powerful new forms. And, this isn’t even restricted to other monsters as well, as Naofumi has shown when he unlocked Shields like the Leaf Shield and Rope Shield.
3Son Goku: Dragon Ball
Now, out of everything and everyone on here, this is likely the most “out there” inclusion. Goku AKA Kakkarot, the Saiyan and main character ofDragon Balland a diehard martial artist, isDBZ’sBlue Mage. Now, how exactly is this possible? Well, over the course of all the different series such asDragon Ball,Dragon Ball Z,Dragon Ball GT, andDragon Ball Super, Goku has shown absurd levels of innate mastery in all forms of martial arts or ki-based abilities as well as a natural ability to mimic techniques that he sees.

He learned and even perfected Master Roshi’s Kamehameha in no time flat (which took Roshi 50 years to invent), quickly mastered the Afterimage Technique from Roshi, and even uses Krillin’s signature Destructo Disc more expertly than Krillin does. Sadly, Goku doesn’t really take much from his opponents, other than maybe learning Hakai when fighting Beerus. But, looking back, there are not many named moves Goku uses that were created by him.
2Ging Freeccs: Hunter X Hunter
It might seem a bit silly to include two characters fromHunter X Hunter, but the sheer freedom of Nen just allows for so many interesting types of powers. Ging Freeccs, for example, is a Nen enigma. The readers still don’t know much about him, other than the fact that he’s an awful father toGon during his darkest time. But, outside of that, no one is aware of what his actual Hatsu AKA Nen abilities are.
The only time fans are ever even shown Ging using Nen is while Pariston’s goons are hunting Ging down and he copies Leorio’s Remote Punch Hatsu. But, Pariston himself asks Ging if this is his Hatsu, and Ging says no. Rather, for some reason, Ging is just able to accurately mimic any punching ability that he’s been hit with. So basically, Ging Freeccs is the Blue Mage of punches.

1Fushi: To Your Eternity
Last up is an example that technically isn’t human, but absolutely falls under the category of “copying”. Fushi is a literal orb created by some god-like deity known as the Beholder. He was put on earth to learn, experience, grow, and eventually “become everything” so that he may take the Beholder’s place.
What this means as far as abilities are concerned is that Fushi can perfectly copy the form and abilities of anything or anyone who leaves an impression on him. In fact, he does just this, often transforming from form to form of his friends who have passed away to use all their specific masteries and individual skills in quick succession in his neverending battleagainst the mysterious Nokkers.
