The Callisto Protocolnow has its own podcast in preparation for the game’s arrival in December. From themind ofDead Spacedirector Glen Schofield, the upcoming body horror game comes from new studio Striking Distance, and fans of the genre have been talking about the title for some time now. Images and teaser footage have only served to increase the hype, and for some, the fact that it’s not a remake or remaster is a breath of fresh air.
The Callisto Protocolrevealed even more content recently, with previews and screenshots giving people a taste of what’s to come. Of course, the game is being compared toDead Space, with the new title serving as a spiritual successor to the antics of Isaac Clarke, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. So anticipated is the game that Schofield and his team have already been talking about ideas for a possible follow-up, and in the meantime, there’s even more for fans to check out while they wait.

Striking Distance has just released a podcast forThe Callisto Protocol, which can be listened to right now. Called “Helix Station,” this project serves as a prequel to the game and stars Michael Ironside andGame of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie. Set in the year 2320, the podcast focuses on a “dangerous escaped criminal” and a skip tracer, the game’s version of a bounty hunter, who must hunt them down while also encountering some of the horrors that lie in wait. Currently, fans can check out the first two episodes, with four more episodes expected in the future.
This is not the only thing the studio has been busy with outside of developing the game. Recently, the company launched adocuseries onThe Callisto Protocolcalled “Mastering Horror,” which will look at how the team approached creating the horror elements that went into the game. Like the podcast, the docuseries currently has two episodes that are available to watch on YouTube, “Brutality” and “Atmosphere & Tension.”
Given the hype around the game, it’s not surprising thatThe Callisto Protocolisone of the most anticipated horror releases of this generation. The genre on the whole is currently in something of a golden age, especially with remakes ofDead SpaceandResident Evil 4on the horizon. But even the indie scene has been thriving, with recent sleeper hits such asThe Mortuary AssistantandScornoffering up more scares and atmosphere. In short, it’s looking like Schofield’s latest offering is heading for a successful launch, and fans don’t have long to wait now.
