The Flashstar Ezra Miller made headlines over the past year for several legal issues that placed their future as the Scarlet Speedster in question. Now,The Flashco-star Kiersey Clemons has commented on Miller’s issues and the statement made by DC Studios co-CEO James Gun.
In early 2022,Miller has arrested in Hawaii in what would become to first of many controversies forThe Flashstar. This culminated inMiller taking a plea dealfor a burglary charge to avoid prison time, an agreement that allowed them to pay a fine and take a lesser charge of trespassing.

The Flashwill serve as a soft reboot for the DCU, which is now overseen by Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran. During the presentation announcing the initial slate of new DC projects, Gunn referred toThe Flashas “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.” At the premiere of Clemons' film,Somebody I Used to Know,The Hollywood Reporterasked her if she heard Gunn’s comments. “I did, and he said very nice things,” she responded. “I had a great time. I’ve known Ezra for years and I loved working with Andy. Despite everything, we had a really great time filming and we did make a really great movie. I hope that despite [all the headlines], people really enjoy the movie because what James said is true. I believe what he said and I think it’s absolutely correct.”
Clemons noted that it’s been “absolutely” tough reading headlines about herThe Flashco-star, but she reminded people that Miller’s recent experiences are not unique to the actor. “What people forget is that a lot of people go through that but they don’t do it with the whole world watching,” Clemons said. “Although it comes with the territory, it’s really unfair and has been hard watching that.”
Audiences seem split on the subject of Miller’s future as The Flash. Last year, a poll indicated more than half of audiences believedMiller’s actions warrantedThe Flash’s cancellationor at least reshoots with a new actor in the titular role. However, Warner Bros. was never likely to consider either option given the cost of cancelling the big-budget movie.
For the time being, Gunn and Safran seem to be giving Miller the time they need to recover and will wait to make a decision onMiller’s future asThe Flash. What audiences have to say on the matter will likely be reflected in how successfulThe Flashis at the box office.
The Flashis scheduled to be released in theaters on June 14, 2025.
