5A New Age Of Mandalore

The Armorer once said “The songs of eons past foretold of the Mythosaur rising to herald a new age of Mandalore.” Considering how close the Armorer is to Mandalorian culture, and her importance in the story of the Tribe and the ways of the Mandalore, it’s inevitable that her words will become truth, in one way or another. It will be certainly interesting to see if these “songs of eons past”accurately predict some form of a future for Mandalorians.

As far as the Mandalorians are concerned, they are scattered, hunted, and dwindling in numbers. Their planet has been reduced to ruin, and their culture and society are left as a memory. However, with the Mythosaur returning to Mandalore, perhaps it beckons the ancient prophecies that a new age of Mandalore will be approaching very soon. Perhaps the Tribe will thrive once more in a galaxy free from the Empire’s tyranny or Mandalorian infighting.

4Centuries Of Extinction

The Mythosaur has been reduced to myth and legend with its absence over the years. No living being or functioning droid has seen a Mythosaur, and only legends keep the Mythosaur alive. Although the mythosaurs are all long gone inStar Wars, it does not stop the Mandalorians from adapting their skull as an emblem for their people. Many Mandalorians use the mighty Mythosaur as a sigil or decorate their halls with an interpretation of its skull made from metals.

The centuries of extinction for the Mythosaur make it hard to pin down exactly what a Mythosaur is,as audiences would have only heard thingsfrom great legends of a once mighty and fearsome species of dragon-like creatures. However, what is known, is that the Mythosaur has been extinct for centuries, and only now is one being seen for the first time in eons past.

3They Were Slain By Mandalorian Taung

InStar Warscanon, little is known as to who or what brought down the mythosaurs. There were countless numbers of these creatures, and they inhabited Mandalore eons ago. However, ifStar Warscontinues to bring in elements from the Legends timeline, then it is more than likely that the fate of the mythosaurs will follow suit. InLegendsmaterial, Mythosaurs were all wiped out because of the Taung, an ancient species dedicated to battle, honor, and war.

The Taung ventured to a strange new planet to conquer, in search of a new one and a new war. Here, they found the mythosaurs, and they slaughtered them in a fierce battle.A special Darksaberwould have certainly helped in this fight. The reason that they are called Mandalorians, and the planet Mandalore, is because in their victory, they named the planet Mandalore in honor of their leader: Mandalore the First.

However, what is worth noting is Mandalore the First’s involvement with the Mythosaur.

Mandalore the First was a warrior who sought to conquer another planet. He led the Taung people, a warrior species, to battle on the then-undiscovered planet of Mandalore. Here, he and his Taung people wiped out the mythosaurs, battling them to extinction. After the victory, the planet was named after him. The mythosaur was no more, making themas rare as Grogu’s species.

1They Were Tamed By Mandalore The Great

When Bo-Katan and Din Djarin reachethe Living Waters of Mandalore, Bo-Katan reads an ancient Mandalorian tablet that was left in memory of the Living Waters. Here, Bo-Katan tells Din Djarin of Mandalore the Great, an ancient Mandalorian individual who was known for a great many conflicts against the Jedi Order, a war that he would seek glory and victory from.

Not only is Mandalore the Great known for hiswars with Jedi, but the text on the Living Waters reads how he managed to tame the mythosaurs. It’s interesting to note that these mighty and gigantic beasts can be tamed, and perhaps one day the likes of Din Djarin will ride one, bringing forth a new age for Mandalorians in the galaxy far, far away.
