Since the release ofThe Sims 4’s base game, developer Maxis has almost consistently put out updates in the form of expansion packs, game packs, and stuff packs that rejuvenated things a little at a time. The Cottage Living update felt like a breath of fresh air, adding a new town for Sims to live in and providing players with the means to create their best English village life.

Fans believe it’s high time that another update is given toThe Sims 4, as it has been close to a year since Cottage Living released. Fortunately for fans of the life-simulator, information for a new expansion pack may come sooner rather than later.

Future The Sims 4 ‘Living’ Updates Potential

The Sims' official Twitter account recently teased the next roadmap content update will be coming in May. Those who loved the"Cottagecore" feel of Cottage Livingseem to yearn for different vibes to build their dream homes, and there are a few ideas for how EA could do just that.

The next update for the game could come in the form of a proper occult expansion pack, on top of the already availableThe Sims 4: Vampiresgame pack. Players could have more life states such as faeries, mummies, werewolves, and witches, like those fromThe Sims 3: SupernaturalandWorld Adventures. While the Vampires game pack does feature a plethora of gothic goods, a full-scale occult expansion pack could allow players to build upon their magical fantasies. They could live in a witch’s lair or a fairy’s grove; make an underground werewolf den, or deck out their homes in Ancient Egyptian miscellanea.

Another life customization update that could come toThe Sims 4is one akin toThe Sims 3: Into the Future. A futuristic expansion pack could give a sci-fi twist to the lives of players' Sims, allowing them to live in spaces akin to that of The Jetsons - or maybe even live in space on a moon or with the opportunity to live on other Sim-colonized planets. Thisexpansion pack forThe Sims 4could also bring back the studious Curious family intoThe Simsseries, who could be responsible for creating the device that takes Sims into the future.

On the flip side, the Curious family’s time machine could take players' Sims back into the past rather than the future. This expansion pack style would be able to tie the main storyline ofThe Simsto that of2011’sThe Sims Medieval, taking Sims back to the Middle Ages. Players could live in large castles or inns, becoming nobles or innkeepers if they please, and decorate their homes with period furnishings and fixtures. An expansion that takes players back to the past could also add new career paths and ambitions. Here, EA has another opportunity to create and add a new pre-made family into the mix with a medieval twist.

The next roadmap update might provide fans with an exciting new expansion pack forThe Sims 4. Whether it’s a minor expansion or something akin to Cottage Living remains to be seen, but fans should find out next month. Or perhaps, EA might surprise fans with anannouncement forThe Sims 5. Either way, the developer should be sure it shakes things up going forward.

The Sims 4: Cottage Livingis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
