The developers behind the upcomingStellar Bladerevealed the real-life South Korean model they worked with in order to create the game’s action heroine, Eve.Stellar Bladehas been a hot topic of discussion ever since its re-reveal in 2023, with many anticipating its April 26 release. The design ofStellar Blade’s protagonist has dominated conversations, especially after the game’s latest State of Play trailer.
A lot of the trailers and screenshots prominently focus on Eve, the game’s main protagonist. The developers admitted that"special attention" was given to Eve’s backside, as that would be what players would be looking at the most during gameplay. This focus on physical appeal is consistent with Shift Up’s previous titles, such asGoddess of Victory: Nikke.

Stellar Blade’s director, Hyung-Tae Kim, confirmed in aninterview with Push Squarethat they approached a South Korean model,Shin Jae-eun, about basing the game’s protagonist on her. Fans were clued into this detail, as a video of Jae-eun being scanned forStellar Blade’s protagonist was posted online around the end of 2023. This is the first time the developers officially confirmed that she was involved with the game, wanting to use her body as a reference to create the “most attractive looking body” for players to look at.
Stellar Blade’s Real-Life Model - Shin Jae-eun
Characters being digitally modeled after real-life people have been a rather popular trend in the AAA gaming space, as seen with games likeDevil May Cry 5,Spider-Man, and theLike a Dragonseries. These scans help give the characters a realistic feel. WhileJae-eun’s body was used as a reference for theStellar Bladeprotagonist, Kim says that Eve’s face was created in-house. “Yes, we did base the character of Eve on the model Shin Jae-eun,” said Kim. “We thought that her body shape would be a good reference for the character that we were pursuing. But the face was created originally in-house - it’s just the body of the model that we scanned for the game.”

Kim also confirmed that players will be able todress up Eve in 30 different costumes inStellar Blade, obtainable from completing certain objectives or side quests.
