Fans around the world finally get to see the film now, but a few lucky fans were able to watch the film days ahead of others and managed to become a part of special screenings in select theaters in different countries around the world.

To promoteTop Gun: Maverick, the studio decided to host special screenings for the originalTop Gunin select theaters globally. These were meant to be hosted on May 13, which is celebrated by fans globally as Top Gun Day. When fans appeared for some of the screenings, they were in for a great surprise, as they were selected towatch the upcomingTop Gunsequel. Their reactions were captured on camera, and the video has just been released for public viewing.

The video showcases theater audiences in Brazil, Singapore, and Mexico as they get ready to watch the originalTop Gun. When the theater lights dim, actorTom Cruise appears on-screen, not in his Lt Pete “Maverick” Mitchell role though. He informs the audience members that “unfortunately [they] will not be seeing the originalTop Guntoday.” Instead, they have been selected to be “one of the first audiences to seeTop Gun: Maverick.”

At Cruise’s announcement, the audiences burst into cheers, confirming that the attendees were not aware of the surprise planned for them. The reactions following the movie were quite endearing, with fans expressing their excitement over being chosen to watchTop Gun: Maverickahead of the rest of the world.
