Marcus Holloway was the lead character of 2016’sWatch Dogs 2, and his story was left somewhat open-ended at the game’s conclusion. So when Ubisoft announced that Aiden Pearce, the protagonist of the first game, would be making a return inWatch Dogs: Legion’sDLC pack Bloodlines,many people assumed that Marcus Holloway would likewise make an appearance.
According to actor Ruffin Prentiss, who played Holloway inWatch Dogs 2,he has not been asked to return as theDedSec operative forWatch Dogs: Legion. “I haven’t heard from Ubisoft,” Prentiss stated in an interview. “I would love to reprise the role. It’s one of my favorite things that I’ve ever done. When Aiden was announced, I was like, ‘Oh, maybe there’s potential.’”

Holloway’s primary partner in crime inWatch Dogs 2,Wrench, was also announced by Ubisoft to be a post-launch character inWatch Dogs: Legion.For Prentiss, Wrench’s return to the game is promising because it means “the realm of possibility still exists, but I have heard nothing from Ubisoft. But if they call, I’d absolutely jump back in.”
Unfortunately, the likelihood of this happening seems slim, becauseWatch Dogs: Legion’sDLC and additional characters have already been announced. So far, the only known expansion is Bloodlines, which will add three new DedSec story missions, vehicle paint, and four playable characters for the single-player campaign—Aiden Pearce, Wrench, Mina, andDarcy, a member ofAssassin’s Creed’sAssassin Order. That’s not to say definitively that a secondWatch Dogs: Legionexpansion with additional new characters might not be planned for the future, though.
Prentiss, in the meantime, is supportive of Aiden Pearce and Wrench making a comeback. “Look, Wrench is loved. And Shawn Baichoo is such a wonderful, fluid, and versatile actor. What he does with that performance… He’s earned this moment. He deserves every second of it.” And Baichoo, says Prentiss, sent him a message when Wrench was announced, wondering, “Hey, is Marcus coming?”
Watch Dogs: Legiontakes place in a fictionalized version of London, in a near future when automation and artificial intelligence have become commonplace and taken over many blue and white-collar jobs. Thehacker groupDedSec actively battles against authoritarian power and criminal organizations that maintain their strength at the cost of everyday citizens.
To complete the game’s various main and side missions, players can recruit and control different playable characters in order to make use of their unique abilities. Unlike the previous games in the series, gamers will have theoption of turning on permadeath mode inWatch Dogs: Legion, with the threat of permanently losing an operative upping the stakes and tension. The game will also offer a multiplayer mode that allows up to four people to work cooperatively together to carry out tasks.
Watch Dogs: Legionis available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
