Apex Legendsseason 12 is hitting the midway point of the season, and as always, it has somewhat settled. Although many flocked toMad Maggie at release, she has fallen in the pick rates quite hard, and Octane and Wraith continue to dominate picks. Of course, rankedApex Legendsplayers are also preparing for the setback that’ll accompany the upcoming Ranked Split.
At that time, not only will players be set back in Ranked, but the map will also change. For many players, which map is currently the focus of Ranked is a big deal. Because of the size, because of the popular drop zones, how well certain weapons play in an area, and so on, the map can impact howApex Legendsmatches go. A big change is coming with the Ranked Split.

Currently, players are onApex Legends' Olympus map. This map is quite wide and open, allowing for better long-ranged combat and its spread allows players to play they want to play, aggressively or otherwise. Indeed, Olympus may be many’s preferred map compared to Kings Canyon, World’s Edge, and Storm Point, and it stands in contrast to its replacement.
When is the Apex Legends Ranked Split Date
TheApex LegendsRanked Split Date is set for April 5; it is possible the recent Kings Canyon bug delays this but not likely. Just as it is withevery majorApex Legendsupdate, players can expect it to go live around 10 AM PT/12 PM CT. Players will also be migrating from Olympus to Kings Canyon, which is much smaller and tighter than Olympus. Not only does this impact the timing and size of many fights, but it’s much more in and out of buildings and the like.
It’s going to be a big change, but for many,Kings Canyon is their favorite map. It’s the original map (even if it has had a few changes) and has a special place in many early players’ hearts. As such, not only does it change the general gameplay approach, but it may very well bring in many older players too. It’ll be interesting to see how that goes, but Kings Canyon always draws eyes—one way or another.
Of course, the second half ofApex Legendsalways seems to go faster than the first half. While the Split Date is fast-approaching,Apex Legendsseason 13 doesn’t seem far behind. Teasers will likely begin within the next few weeks, and there are no doubt rumors about thenewApex Legendsseason 13 characterwill start cropping up. For now, though, players may best spend their time preparing for Kings Canyon.
Apex Legendsis available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. Mobile is available in some regions; PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are in development.
