Set between the years of 2054 and 2061,Advanced Warfarewas one of the first timesCall of Dutystepped outside the parameters set by current or previous wars and thought of something entirely new, thanks to some brilliant development from Sledgehammer. To this day,Advanced Warfareis a memorable entryin the long-running first-person shooter series, and giving Sledgehammer a chance at another chapter is sorely needed.
It’s a Perfect Time to Bring Advanced Warfare Back
Call of Dutyhas succeeded at showcasing some of the most historically significant wars in human history, but they have been done time and time again. From World War 2 to games inspired by modern-day conflicts, these periods of time have been featured plenty, and it’s time for something new. There are already plenty of rumors suggesting thatthe nextBlack Opsgamewill be based on the Gulf War, but looking to the future is the key to breathing some new life into the franchise.
A Unique Call of Duty Entry
It’s been far too long sinceCall of Dutyspeculated on the future of war. Sledgehammer brought to life one of the most unique entries in the entirety ofCall of Duty’s history, and it’s confusing as to why the spin-off hasn’t been revisited. With such great reviews and a fresh idea, Sledgehammer’s first attempt at making its ownCall of Dutygame turned out to be a huge hit. It’s arguably one of the best games to be featured in the franchise, which makes the choice not to craft another one mind-boggling.
Now, withBattlefieldmaking its own futuristicattempt withBattlefield 2042, a newCall of Duty: Advanced Warfarecould create some great competition.Battlefield 2042hasn’t managed to hit the same notes thatAdvanced Warfaredid, which makes the absence of a new installment feel even larger.

Call of Duty Needs to Stop Recycling Itself
In its current state,Call of Dutyhasn’t been pushing boundaries like it should. SinceAdvanced Warfare, Sledgehammer has continued to work onotherCall of Dutygames, likeVanguardandModern Warfare 3, but they unfortunately haven’t compared toAdvanced Warfare. The World War 2 era has overstayed its welcome, andModern Warfare 3didn’t really bring anything new to the table, but a newAdvanced Warfareis full of potential for Sledgehammer to let its creativity shine once more.
TheCall of Dutyfranchise has had many ups and downsas of late, but a change of pace can hopefully turn that around. Sledgehammer has proved once before that it
has what it takes to craft an incredibleCall of Dutygame, and the developer will hopefully get the opportunity to bring back the spin-off that helped showcase such strong abilities.
