Game Freak continues to release new informational clips forPokemon Legends: Arceus, each of which unveils some new detail of the Hisui region that players will run into. Previous trailers have focused on everything from Hisuian Pokemon variants to the new Noble Pokemon that players will confront, but a newPokemon Legends: Arceustrailer emphasized the human side of the world. It introduced fans to the Diamond Clan and Pearl Clan of the Hisui region, including their leaders Adaman and Irida. It seems that the Hisui region will largely be divided by two outlooks on life; the opposing ideologies are bound to introduce some tension to the game’s plot.
Pokemonfans know that the clans' names areobvious references toPokemon DiamondandPearl, which introduced the Sinnoh region that the Hisui region will eventually become. Notably, though, there’s a potential third clan that appears to be missing. Although theDiamondandPearlfollow-upPokemon Platinumcontributed a lot to the Sinnoh region, the newPokemon Legends: Arceustrailer didn’t announce a Platinum Clan. Even so, it’s still possible that a Platinum clan will get involved inPokemon Legends: Arceussomehow, building up the Hisui region further while givingPokemon Platinumsome much-needed acknowledgment.

What a Platinum Clan Could Be Like
WhilePokemon Legends: Arceusisn’t confirmed to feature a Platinum Clan, it’s possible that the clan just hasn’t come to the forefront yet. After all, with only two niches filled so far, the Platinum Clan could still have a unique personality that justifies its presence. It seems that the Diamond Clan defines itself by decisiveness, efficiency, and action, taking bold steps to change the world. In contrast, the Pearl Clan is more diligent, careful, and patient when interacting with the Hisui region. If Adaman’s fixation on avoiding wasting time stems from a connection to Dialga, then the Platinum Clan canlook to Giratina’s legacyfor guidance.
The Platinum Clan may not have shown up yet inPokemon Legends: Arceusbecause it’s a secret, both for the game’s advertising and within the Hisui region. After all, Giratina itself is largely a secret Pokemon. Ever since Arceusbanished it to the Distortion Worldfor its violent behavior, Giratina has been a forgotten outsider while its siblings Dialga and Palkia get attention from humans. A Platinum Clan inPokemon Legends: Arceuscould consist of stealthy outcasts who avoid Hisuian cities and live on the region’s edge. They might also borrow from Giratina’s violent tendencies, fighting for morally dubious causes and training with particularly dangerous Pokemon.

When Could the Platinum Clan Appear?
If there’s a Platinum Clan inPokemon Legends: Arceus, then one wonders when it might crop up. It does seem a little unlikely that a third clan will show up in the middle of the game’s plot; the new trailer emphasizes the conflict between the Diamond and Pearl Clans, which would feel less important if a third clan suddenly came into the picture. If the Diamond and Pearl Clans develop a more amicable relationship withinPokemon Legends: Arceus' plot, then the Platinum Clan could show its face in a postgame story arc, offering fans some extra content after their journey is complete.
Alternatively, it’s possible that Game Freak will line up aPokemon Legends: ArceusDLC using a Platinum Clan. Since the game isn’t out yet, its potential relationship with DLC is unclear. After the success ofPokemon SwordandShield’s DLCs, though, aPokemon Legends: Arceusexpansion seems logical. One leaker did claim that the game will get a DLC focused on Primal Giratina, which would be the perfect opportunity to introduce a Platinum Clan that guards or worships Giratina. AsSwordandShieldproved, aPokemonDLC is most valuable when it expands the setting as much as the Pokedex.

The Need for Platinum Visibility
Strictly speaking,Pokemon Legends: Arceuscan probably get by without introducing a Platinum Clan, but there’s stilla certain need forPokemon Platinumrepresentationright now. BecausePokemon Platinumadded so many great new characters and features to the Sinnoh region, it’s a little surprising to see that there isn’t an obvious Platinum Clan by default. While Game Freak could be hiding the clan for storytelling reasons, it could be more likely that there simply isn’t a Platinum Clan.
Notably, this isn’t the first time in recent history thatPokemon Platinumgot the short end of the stick. Lots of fans wondered ifPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlwould incorporate elements fromPokemon Platinumrather than focusing purely on remakingDiamondandPearl.Unfortunately, lots of corePlatinumcontent like Gym improvements and the Distortion World didn’t make it into the remakes. With no knownplans for aPlatinumremakeahead, the third Sinnoh game falls by the wayside while it deserves very different treatment.Pokemon Legends: Arceuswould be the perfect place to celebratePokemon Platinum’s impact on the Sinnoh region.

The Mysteries of Pokemon Legends: Arceus
For the time being, there’s still some hope that a Platinum Clan will get involved in the game somehow. Aside from leaks hinting at DLC in 2022, others have claimed thatPokemon Legends: Arceuswill bethe longestPokemongame to date. If there’s really so much story to cover, then maybe there’s room for the Platinum Clan in the Hisui region after all. Whether they play a surprise role inPokemon Legends: Arceus' plot or help flesh out the setting in a DLC, there’s plenty of cause to fit the Platinum Clan in somewhere.
The void left by the absence of the third potential clan does speak to some greater questions about this bold newPokemongame. In spite of the many trailers that fans have seen revealing elements of the game, much of the core plot remains shrouded in mystery. Arceus' relationship to the plot is unknown, and the same goes for Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. Simultaneously, one wonders if there arehumanPokemonantagonists lurking behind every corneras usual, or if the player’s biggest adversary is something much more powerful for once. If it appears, maybe Platinum Clan will play a villainous part, or maybe it’ll turn out to be an unlikely ally against a greater threat to the Hisui region.
