One suchquality of life feature coming inWorld of WarcraftPatch 10.1.5is the ability to freely trade across realms. Though players could party in dungeons and raids with players from other servers, they could only trade conjured items like Healthstones and Mana Biscuits, or loot they were eligible to claim. However, once this new content update hits, players will be able to trade items, gold, or anything else they could normally exchange with characters from any realms in their region.
World of Warcrafthas taken great strides towards opening up play inDragonflight. In addition to allowingWoWplayers to party and form guilds across the faction line,World of Warcraftalso opened up the ability to challenge any content in the game with players from other realms, so people can more easily play with their friends, regardless of world. The advent of free cross-realm trading is another significant step towards opening up Azeroth–and one that will help prevent low-population servers from being abandoned.
In general, fans are gladWorld of Warcraftis making this change. Being unable to trade with players from other realms was frustrating, especially if they wished to exchange consumables or other items to help their fellow raid team members. Many players hopeWorld of Warcraftcontinues its trendand opens the game up even further by merging Auction Houses from different realms, letting players send mail to other realms, and allowing them to form cross-realm guilds.
That said, some players have concerns about what loosened restrictions on cross-realm trading could mean for the economy. Gold sellers and RMT spammers could use this function to spread their ill-gotten wares across the game, and raid boosters will be able to sellclears ofWorld of Warcraftraids easier than ever before. Unfortunately, the war against bots and boosters is an ever-present one in any MMO, so hopefullyWorld of Warcraftwill be able to mitigate the downsides of free cross-realm trading and other future quality of life features as they are implemented.
World of Warcraftis available now for PC.
