When Activision Blizzard released theWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightexpansion, many things were added to the MMO, including a feature called dragonriding. Though it was hailed by many as an expansion-selling feature upon launch, some players remained skeptical that the positivity would last, butWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightplayers are still enjoying dragonriding today.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflightgave lapsed fans plenty of reasons to return tothe Activision Blizzard MMO, and similar to several expansions before it, the content helped boost the player numbers. Among the things introduced with the expansion was the new region of Dragon Isles to explore, a revamp to the crafting systems that have barely been addressed since the game was first released, and dragonriding which gave players an improved method of traversal. Pointing to the introduction of flying inThe Burning Crusade, manyWorld of Warcraftfans at the time suggested that dragonriding would suffer from the honeymoon period, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Although manyWorld of Warcraftplayers are clambering to hit max level with each expansion so that they can delve into the endgame dungeons and raids, others consider dragonriding to be a good reason to log in every day. On top of the traversal improvements made with dragonriding, someWorld of Warcraftplayers celebrated the races scattered aroundDragonflight’s Dragon Islesregion and the ability to race others in unique ways when compared to standard mounts. With the number ofWorld of Warcraftfans that approve ofDragonflight’s dragonriding feature, some players have also expressed interest in the mechanic carrying over to future zones that are expected with each new expansion.
While many of theseWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightplayers continue to praise the dragonriding feature almost three months after launch, the mechanic is really just an evolution of the flying mounts first brought to the MMO with its first expansion. Because dragonriding is so linked tothe lore ofWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight, it may be something that’s limited to the expansion, but given that flying mounts weren’t locked toThe Burning Crusade, the mechanic could also appear again one day.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflightis available now for Mac and PC.
