During BlizzCon,World of Warcraftannounced The Worldsoul Saga, a three-expansion storyline that would begin withThe War Withinin 2024. The expansion itself will have some exciting new features, including new zones and the Delves outdoor activity, Hero Talents, alt-friendly Warbands, and the Earthen, a new Allied Race available to both the Alliance and the Horde.
However, it seems like not manyWorld of Warcraftfans are excited about the Earthen.World of Warcraftrecently ran a poll on its official Twitter account, asking players what feature they weremost excited about fromThe War Within. Out of the over 18,000 voters, only 2.5%, or 450 people, voted for the Earthen. On the converse, many of the post’s comments were critiques on the Earthen, either about ways they could be improved, or with other Allied Races they would rather see instead of them.
While the Earthen were more prevalent inWrath of the Lich King, players might recognize these rocky Dwarves from as far back as Vanilla, where they appear as enemies in the original Uldaman dungeon. With beards and skin of stone, many players have wanted the Earthen to be playable for a long time, even ifDwarves inWorld of Warcraftare far from its most popular race. That said, if their reactions are anything to go off, fans are less than enthusiastic about the playable Earthen inThe War Within.
Major Critiques About the Earthen Allied Race in WoW
The Earthen are definitely coming toWorld of WarcraftinThe War Within, but that won’t stop players from hoping there are changes before then. While changing details about the Earthen or a second Horde-centric Allied Race would be a lot of work, it would likely improve reception to the new Allied Race as a whole. Either way, hopefullyWorld of Warcraftwill learn from this feedback if it releases more Allied Races inMidnight,The Last Titan, or other future expansions.
