For those unfamiliar with theTimeSplittersseries, they are first-person shooter games from Free Radical Design. When Free Radical first formed, it was made up of ex-Rare employees who worked on games likeGoldenEye 007andPerfect Dark, so theTimeSplittersgames play as successors to those titles. They feature a nice variety of levels thanks to the time-traveling gimmick, not to mention split-screen co-op and local multiplayer options.

WhenTimeSplitters: Future Perfectfirst launched in 2005, it offered online multiplayer capabilities along with the LAN and split-screen options. Unfortunately, theoriginal Xbox Live was shut downyears ago, and soTimeSplitters: Future Perfecton Xbox no longer has online multiplayer features. Still, those that want to enjoy the multiplayer can find some friends to play with or play against bots if they so desire.

Free Radical was on a roll with theTimeSplitterstrilogy, but things fell off the rails after that point. In 2008, the company releasedHazeto mostly negative reviews, and then it ran into serious financial difficulty. It was eventually sold to Crytek and became Crytek UK, until eventuallyreforming as part of Deep Silver and Embracer Group.

Since Free Radical’s reformation, it’s been confirmed that anewTimeSplittersgame is in development. Details on what the game will entail are unavailable at the time of this writing, but the game is believed to be in active development.
