Free-to-playUbisoftfirst-person shooterXDefiantseems to have a hit registration problem as it prepares for a full launch later this summer.XDefianthas had a few separate alpha and closed beta testing phases, but some open beta players are experiencing issues with gunfire ballistics in theUbisoftgame.
Ubisoft officially announcedXDefiantin July 2021, and it has received some changes since then after being tested by insiders before the open beta. TheXDefiantopen beta began on June 21, and it has already been hotfixed to improve party invites and general matchmaking. Now some players have noticed that their shots aren’t connecting with enemies as they feel they should, resulting in some awkward moments.

Reddit users A_Russian_Tazer and MotionGamingYT are among theXDefiantplayers that have shared their questionable experiences with hit registration during theUbisoft game’s open session. In one clip, a player aims their MP5A2 directly at an enemy that’s standing still, slowly unloading rounds to emphasize the issue affecting the hits, with the hostile dying to about a dozen shots after a delay. In MotionGamingYT’s video, the player is training their accuracy with an M9 pistol when they shoot two target dummies before reaching a third in which they fire four rounds at the final target, with only the fourth hitting it despite the accuracy remaining the same.
Given that theseXDefiantopen beta players are among several that have reported problems with the Ubisoft game’s hit registration, it may be something that’s fixed ahead of its official release later this summer. Ubisoft has been observing player feedback over the last two days to implement some changes to the open session as players experience it, with some fixes that have already gone through.XDefiantis far from the first FPS to see this issue, ashit registration inCall of Duty: Warzone 2,Black Ops: Cold War, and Respawn’sApex Legendshave also had a history of controversy.
Because Ubisoft has confirmed that there are some server issues affectingtheXDefiantopen beta, it’s possible that the hit registration is caused by latency due to low ping.
XDefiantis in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
