The newest update toYu-Gi-Oh! Master Duelhas added a new game mode to the popular online card game, featuring both 3v3 and 5v5 team duels. Since the release of the online platform for the long-running card game earlier this year, Konami has added plenty of new features for players outside Ranked play. The onlineYu-Gi-Oh!sim has featured several events focused around different deck-building restrictions, as well asadding a Casual queue in July. Now, Konami has revealed the next new way for players to experienceYu-Gi-Oh!through the game.Multiplayer duels have been a popular staple of theYu-Gi-Oh!franchise through the more than twenty years since the debut of the card game. TheYu-Gi-Oh!anime frequently features different dueling formats with more than two players involved with several iconic early duels featuring four players, like Yugi and Joey teaming up against the Paradox Brothers. The idea of multiplayer duels even saw Konami introduce the fan-favoriteYu-Gi-Oh! Tag Forcefranchise as a spinoff focused on these team duels. Now,Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duelofficially revealed the newest type of Duels coming to the game late last week with the introduction of “Team Battles.” Team Battles allow players to team up in groups of 3 or 5 to compete with other teams in a series of Duels, playing against a member of the opposing team with the victorious team determined based on each team’s total wins. Players can also set different deck-building restrictions for their Duel, being able to match up with opponents limited tocertain Summoning mechanics like Fusion Monsters.
The addition of Team Battles toMaster Duelcomes alongside several other minor updates to the game as well.Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s newest update introduces a new Selection Pack to the game, containingpowerful new cards for Pendulum decksas well as new archetypes like Scareclaw and Vaylantz. As with many new packs, cosmetics based on the new cards' art were introduced with Vaylantz sleeves and a “Visas Starfrost” icon added. The update also features several other minor quality-of-life updates to the game’s database and deck editing.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duelhas been a major highlight of a year that has seen both highs and lows for the franchise.Master Duel’s massive launch was followed later in the year by the release ofYu-Gi-Oh! Cross Dueland the addition of Link Monsters toYu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. However,Yu-Gi-Oh!fans also had to unexpectedly say farewell to the card game’s beloved creator asKazuki Takahashi passed away earlier this year. The addition of Team Battles will haveMaster Duellooking to build on the success it has already seen since its January launch.
